Ubiquiti Products

Ubiquiti makes Wi-Fi and wireless networking equipment used in homes, offices and internet service provider links. This page holds the Ubiquiti range we carry: UniFi access points such as the UAP-NANOHD and the in-wall UAP-IW-HD, airMAX bridges such as the NanoBeam NBE-5AC-GEN2 and the 60 GHz GigaBeam GBE-LR, the LiteAP AC LAP-120 sector AP and AMO-5G13 omni antenna, the EdgeSwitch ES-5XP, PoE power units and the UB-AM mount.

Choosing Ubiquiti Products

Choose Ubiquiti equipment by the job it has to do: Wi-Fi inside a building, a wireless link between sites, or the power and switching that feeds them.

UniFi access points

The UAP-NANOHD is a dual-band 802.11ac Wave 2 access point for high-density spaces, with maximum speeds of 1733Mbit/s, support for 200+ concurrent users and Power over Ethernet. The UAP-IW-HD mounts in the wall, adds a 4-port gigabit switch and is set up through the UniFi Controller, for offices, hotels and homes.

Wireless bridges and sector links

A point-to-point bridge links two buildings or sites without a cable. The NBE-5AC-GEN2 NanoBeam is a 5 GHz airMAX ac bridge with a range of up to 15 km and throughput over 450 Mbps, and Ubiquiti notes that two units are required. The GBE-LR GigaBeam pairs a 60 GHz radio with a 5 GHz backup radio and a 2.4 GHz management radio for backhaul above 1 Gbps, and Ubiquiti recommends installing it in pairs. For point-to-multipoint coverage, the LAP-120 LiteAP AC is a 5 GHz sector access point with a 16 dBi, 120° antenna, and the AMO-5G13 is a 13 dBi omni antenna for 360° base stations.

Power and switching

The GBE-LR and LAP-120 come with 24V, 0.5A passive PoE injectors, and the POE-24-12W-G is a separate 24V DC, 0.5A (12W) gigabit injector for Ubiquiti 24V PoE devices. The INS-3AF-I-G converts 802.3af PoE from a standard switch to 24V passive PoE. The ES-5XP EdgeSwitch is a managed gigabit switch with 5 PoE ports at 24V passive, 60W maximum consumption and up to 11.5W per port.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between UniFi and airMAX?

In this range, UniFi is the Wi-Fi access point line and airMAX the outdoor wireless link line. The UAP-NANOHD and UAP-IW-HD are UniFi access points, with the UAP-IW-HD set up through the UniFi Controller. The NBE-5AC-GEN2 NanoBeam, the LAP-120 LiteAP AC and the AMO-5G13 omni antenna are airMAX products, and the GBE-LR airMAX GigaBeam is managed through UISP.

Do I need two wireless bridges for a link?

Yes, a point-to-point link needs a unit at either end. Ubiquiti notes that two units are required for the NBE-5AC-GEN2 NanoBeam and recommends installing the GBE-LR GigaBeam in pairs for a complete link. The GBE-LR is intended for line-of-sight links, and Ubiquiti advises installing the NanoBeam in a clear environment for maximum performance.

How do I power a 24V passive PoE radio?

Use a 24V passive PoE injector or a switch with 24V passive PoE ports. The POE-24-12W-G injector supplies 24V DC at 0.5A for Ubiquiti 24V PoE devices, and the GBE-LR and LAP-120 come with their own 24V, 0.5A passive PoE injectors. The ES-5XP EdgeSwitch has 5 PoE ports at 24V passive, and the INS-3AF-I-G converts 802.3af PoE to 24V passive.

How far can the NanoBeam AC Gen2 reach?

Ubiquiti gives the NBE-5AC-GEN2 a maximum transmission range of up to 15 kilometres, with throughput over 450 Mbps. It is a 5 GHz airMAX ac bridge with a 19 dBi antenna and a dedicated Wi-Fi radio for management and monitoring. For higher-capacity backhaul, the GBE-LR GigaBeam pairs a 60 GHz link suited to more than 1 Gbps with a 5 GHz backup radio.

How many users can the UniFi nanoHD handle?

Ubiquiti says the UAP-NANOHD supports 200+ concurrent users, with maximum speeds of 1733Mbit/s from four-stream 802.11ac Wave 2. It is powered over Ethernet, has a maximum power consumption of 10.5W and one gigabit Ethernet port, and Ubiquiti designs it for high-density environments in businesses and offices.

How do I mount a Ubiquiti outdoor radio?

Use a wall or pole mount made for the device, such as the UB-AM Universal Antenna Mount. It suits many Ubiquiti airMAX, LTU, NanoStation and PowerBeam radios and antennas, and includes the tubular arm, mounting base and M6 pivot and adjusting bolts for tilt and rotation. Ubiquiti asks you to confirm the fit for your model, and the GBE-LR comes with its own pole mount.
