Altron Products

Altron makes the steelwork that lifts CCTV cameras above a site: square-section camera columns in fixed-base and tilt-down versions, wall-mounted poles with a 150 mm stand-off, and top-mount and dome brackets to carry the cameras. This page also holds the parts an installation needs around them, such as anti-climb guards, template and bolt kits for the foundation, demountable winches for tilt-down columns, a ladder stay and access keys.

Choosing Altron Products

Start with where the camera needs to sit, on a free-standing column in open ground or on a pole fixed to a building, then choose the bracket for the number of cameras at the top.

Columns

Column heights here span 4.5 m to 9 m. A fixed-base column such as the 7.5 m ACC3FBLA bolts to a concrete foundation and has a lockable access door to its internal cableway. A tilt-down column such as the ACC4PM lowers its top section by winch so cameras are serviced at ground level, with an internal padlock facility against unauthorised lowering. For urban sites, the AW1697/15 has an equipment cabinet built into its base post, and the AW1545 cabinet-based poles come with venting and high-security locks.

Wall-mounted poles

Where a building gives the height, an ACP wall pole stands the camera clear of the wall or roof edge. The ACP poles are high tensile steel, hot dip galvanised, with grade A2 stainless fixings and a 150 mm stand-off, and a painted finish to BS and RAL colours is offered on request. SGP anti-climb guards are made to match them, such as the SGP3 for the ACP3/150.

Brackets for the top

BCB-T brackets carry bullet cameras on top of Altron poles and columns in single, twin, three-way and quad versions, with the cable run inside. For fixed-line housings, the TB2-600F, TB3600F and TB4-600F take two, three and four cameras on adjustable mounts, and the TB3600F is rated for 25 kg. The C1699F is a corner swan-neck bracket for domes, supplied with bolt-on universal dome adaptors.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose a fixed-base or a tilt-down CCTV column?

Choose a tilt-down column when the cameras will need regular servicing and you would rather do that at ground level than at height. Tilt-down columns such as the ACC1BPLA lower a winch-operated top section and have a padlock facility for secure ground-level access. Fixed-base columns such as the ACC4FB are simpler, bolting to concrete and staying upright while the cameras are serviced.

Which template and bolt kit fits my Altron column?

Match the kit to the column code. The T&B405 is for the ACC1FB, the T&B510 covers the ACC1BP, ACC2FB, ACC2BP and ACC3FB, and the T&B630 covers the ACC3BP, ACC4FB and ACC4BP. The template holds the anchor bolts in position while the concrete foundation is cast, so the base plate of the column lines up with them afterwards.

How do I stop someone climbing an Altron column or wall pole?

Add the SGC or SGP guard that matches its code. SGC frames suit the ACC columns, such as the SGC2 for ACC2 and the SGC4 for ACC4 columns, and SGP guards suit the ACP wall poles, such as the SGP1 for the ACP1. Every guard here is high tensile steel, hot dip galvanised and fixed with grade A2 stainless steel bolts.

How do I mount several bullet cameras on top of a column?

Use a BCB-T top-mount bracket sized to the number of cameras: the BCB-T1 takes one, the BCB-T2 two, the BCB-T3 three and the BCB-T4 four. Every BCB-T bracket routes the cable inside, so nothing is left exposed at the top. The BCB-T1 is rated 10kg per mounting position and the BCB-T3 5 kg per arm, and Altron asks for the camera make and model so the plate suits it.

How do I rest a ladder safely against a column or pole?

Fit an Altron LS1 ladder stay, which holds an extension ladder away from the column or pole so the installer can climb without the ladder touching the column face or gutters. It is formed from aluminium channel, 430 mm long. The LS1 is the factory-supplied version, the LS1/C a retrofit kit for box-section columns and the LS1/P a retrofit kit for tubular poles.
