Glands & Connectors

Glands and connectors seal cable entries into panels and enclosures and join lighting cables. The page holds Haydon red fire-rated M20 glands and fire shrouds for fire alarm wiring, Knightsbridge IP66 nylon glands for 6-12mm cables and a 4-pin push-fit lighting connector, and an Axis Communications Ex d cable gland for flameproof enclosures.

Choosing Glands & Connectors

Decide whether the job is sealing a cable where it enters an enclosure or joining conductors inside the installation, then check the cable size.

Weatherproof cable glands

The JB006 is an IP66 M20 cable gland for indoor and outdoor use, made from robust hard plastic and sized for 20mm knockouts. The JB006 takes cables with diameters of 6-12mm and comes in a pack of 10.

Fire-rated glands and shrouds

The HAY-FRG10 is a pack of 10 red fire-rated cable glands for routing and sealing critical cables through panels and enclosures. Each has an M20 male thread with a 10 mm thread length, a Nylon 66 body and an NBR rubber sealing ring, in RAL 3020 red so fire alarm and safety wiring can be identified. The material is self-extinguishing to 94V-2 and the operating range is −40 °C to +100 °C. The HAY-FRSH red fire shrouds, also 10 per pack, cover cable gland assemblies and cable entries to keep out dirt and foreign matter and give a neat finish. They are an accessory, not a standalone fire-stopping product. Check the fit against your gland size before fitting them.

Lighting connector

The SN4P is a VELOX 20A 4-pin lighting connector with push-fit terminals for maintenance-free operation, suitable for 1.5mm² to 2.5mm² cables. A see-through cover lets you inspect the cables, its large size makes loop-in loop-out wiring easier, and it suits emergency lighting installations.

Frequently asked questions

Why are fire-rated cable glands red?

The red colour identifies fire alarm and safety wiring. The Haydon HAY-FRG10 glands are finished in RAL 3020 red and suit panel entries, junction boxes and enclosures where a red, identifiable fire gland is specified. They have an M20 thread, a Nylon 66 body with an NBR sealing ring, and self-extinguishing 94V-2 material.

What does a cable gland fire shroud do?

It is a cover that fits over a cable gland to protect the gland and cable entry and give fire cabling a neat finish. The Haydon HAY-FRSH shrouds are red for fire identification and come 10 to a pack. They are an accessory, not a fire-stopping product, so check the fit against your gland size before fitting.

What size cables do cable glands take?

It depends on the gland: a gland is made for a set range of cable diameters, and the gland should match the cable's outer diameter and the enclosure hole. The Knightsbridge JB006 IP66 M20 glands take cables of 6-12mm diameter and suit 20mm knockouts. The Haydon HAY-FRG10 glands have an M20 male thread with a 10 mm thread length, and both come in packs of 10.

What is a lighting connector for?

A lighting connector joins lighting circuit cables in one housing, with terminals that make loop-in loop-out wiring between fittings easier. The Knightsbridge SN4P is a 20A 4-pin push-fit connector for 1.5mm² to 2.5mm² cables, with a see-through cover for cable inspection and an earth terminal, and it suits emergency lighting installations. It comes in packs of 20.

What does a cable gland do?

A cable gland routes and seals a cable where it passes through a panel, junction box or enclosure wall. The Haydon HAY-FRG10 has a Nylon 66 body with an NBR rubber sealing ring and an operating range of −40 °C to +100 °C, and the Knightsbridge JB006 is an IP66 M20 gland for indoor or outdoor use that fits 20mm knockouts.
