Network Routers

Network routers link a local network to one or more internet connections through their WAN ports, serving devices over wired LAN ports or Wi-Fi. This page has cloud managed routers and PoE routers, 4G LTE routers that take a SIM card, a Wi-Fi 6 mesh router, VDSL/ADSL modem routers and industrial cellular routers, from Ruijie, TP-Link, AMG Systems and other makers.

Choosing Network Routers

Start with the internet connection the site has, then count the wired devices and the users the router has to carry.

Wired and PoE routers

The Ruijie RG-EG105G-V3 has five 10/100/1000BASE-T ports, a recommended 100 concurrent clients and a throughput of 1000 Mbps in Turbo Mode. The Ruijie RG-EG105G-P-V3 has 4 PoE Out ports and a 54 W PoE budget. The Ruijie RG-EG406XS has 5 × 10/100/1000/2500BASE-T ports and 1 × 10GE SFP+ port, with a recommended 400 concurrent clients. The Ruijie RG-EG710XS is a 10-port router for rack mounting with 2 × 10GE SFP+ ports and a recommended 700 concurrent clients.

4G and cellular routers

The Teltonika RUT901 is an industrial cellular router with 4G LTE (Cat 4), dual SIM with auto failover and a Wi-Fi access point with hotspot functionality. The AMG Systems AMG750-1G-4G-1E4 has a 2G/3G/4G/LTE Cat4 cellular modem with dual SIM card and fail-over support, and an RS232/485 serial data channel for legacy equipment. The Ruijie RG-EW300T is an N300 wireless 4G LTE router with Wi-Fi 4 and 4 external omnidirectional antennas. The TP-Link ARCHER MR600 is a 4G+ Cat6 AC1200 wireless dual band gigabit router with detachable LTE antennas.

Modem and Wi-Fi routers

The TP-Link ARCHER VR400 is an AC1200 wireless VDSL/ADSL modem router with MU-MIMO, Beamforming technology and OneMesh support. The TP-Link VX230V is an AX1800 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 VDSL/ADSL modem router with WPA3 encryption and parental controls. The Ruijie RG-EW6000GX is a Wi-Fi 6 mesh router with a 2.5G port, Dual-WAN and Reyee Mesh 3.0. The TP-Link DR3650v-4G is an AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 desktop DSL gateway with Centralized Cloud Management.

Management and mounting

The Ruijie RG-EG710XS has lifetime management on Ruijie Cloud. The Teltonika RUT901 supports the Teltonika Remote Management System (RMS), and its mounting options are DIN rail, wall mount or flat surface, with an additional kit. The Ruijie RG-EG105G-V3 has a fanless design with natural cooling.

A modem router combines a VDSL or ADSL modem with a router in one unit. The TP-Link ARCHER VR400 is an AC1200 wireless VDSL/ADSL modem router, and the VX230V is an AX1800 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 VDSL/ADSL modem router compatible with VDSL2, ADSL2+, ADSL2 and ADSL standards. The TP-Link DR3650v-4G is a desktop DSL gateway that supports VDSL2 35b.

How many PoE ports does a PoE router have?

It varies by model, and small PoE routers often have four PoE ports that share one total PoE budget. Can a router use two internet connections at once?

Yes, a dual-WAN or multi-WAN router can use two connections, sharing traffic by load balancing or switching over when one fails. The Ruijie RG-EG105G-V3 takes a maximum of 2 WAN ports with load balancing, the RG-EG710XS has multi-WAN with intelligent load balancing, and the RG-EW6000GX has Dual-WAN.
