Fire Extinguishers & Equipment

Fire extinguishers and equipment covers portable extinguishers and the kit that goes with them. This page holds ABC powder, fluorine-free foam, water and CO2 extinguishers, a 600 g powder aerosol, a fire blanket in a hard case, wall brackets, freestanding and tubular stands, cabinets, extinguisher identification signs and theft alarms with their cable kits and crimp seals. The FB02 blanket is certified to EN1869:1997.

Choosing Fire Extinguishers & Equipment

Choose the extinguisher by the fire it must tackle and the place it will stand, then add the bracket, stand or cabinet, the sign and any theft alarm.

Extinguisher types

The Bull POEX6 and POEX9 hold ABC powder, a multi-purpose extinguishing medium, and are Kitemarked to BS EN3. The FOEX9FF uses fluorine-free foam that contains no PFAS, from a foam range rated 27A 144B for 6ltr units and 34A 183B for 9ltr units. The WAEX9SS is a 9l stainless steel water extinguisher with a fire rating of 13A. The COEX2 and COEX5 are 2 kg and 5 kg CO2 extinguishers for offices, workshops and industrial environments, and the COEX5 horn prevents hand-freezing during use. The POEXA600 is a 600 g powder aerosol with a 21B rating, disposable and not refillable.

Brackets, stands and cabinets

The BRKT01 J bracket wall mounts fire extinguishers other than CO2, and the BRKT02 is zinc coated with two fixing holes for M4 screws. The STAP01 is a freestanding fibreglass stand measuring H760 x W325 x D270mm, and the STAP02 is the W650 version. The STATS02 tubular stand holds two extinguishers in a chrome finish, with extinguisher brackets not included. The CABT02P cabinet stores up to 2 x 9kg fire extinguishers behind inspection windows with an EPDM seal, and the CABT01A holds 1 x 9kg.

Signs and theft protection

Bull identification signs include the 11234D foam and 11237D water signs in plastic and copper signs such as the A1234D. The STI-6200 Fire Extinguisher Theft Stopper sounds a 95/105 dB alarm if the protected extinguisher is moved, and the STI-6200WIR sends a wireless signal to an STI receiver. The STI-6255 Mini Theft Stopper is for cabinet mounted extinguishers.

Frequently asked questions

Which fire extinguisher should I choose?

Choose by the fire risk the extinguisher has to cover. ABC powder in the Bull POEX6 is a multi-purpose extinguishing medium, the fluorine-free foam in the FOEX9FF cools Class A fires and blankets Class B fires, and the WAEX9SS water extinguisher carries a 13A rating. The COEX2 CO2 extinguisher is for use in offices, workshops and industrial environments.

Do fire extinguishers need servicing?

Yes, the Bull COEX5 and POEX6 need annual servicing. The FOEX9FF foam extinguisher is designed for economical maintenance and service and can be refilled several times. The POEXA600 powder aerosol is the exception here, as it is disposable and not refillable.

How can I stop extinguishers being stolen or misused?

Fit a theft alarm that sounds when the extinguisher is moved. The STI-6200 emits a 95/105 dB alarm, mounts next to the protected device and has a deactivation cable for maintenance. Its cable is wrapped around the neck of the extinguisher and fixed with the KIT-H18011 crimp seal. For extinguishers kept in cabinets, the STI-6255 uses reed switch activation.

Is there a fire blanket for a kitchen?

Yes, the Bull FB02 is a fire blanket in a moulded hard case, certified to EN1869:1997, for domestic kitchens or industrial catering areas. The blanket sits in a durable moulded case. More blankets and accessories are on our fire blankets and accessories page.

Should I use a bracket, a stand or a cabinet?

Use a bracket for a simple wall fixing, a stand where the wall cannot be used, and a cabinet where the extinguisher needs protecting. The BRKT02 bracket fixes with two M4 screws, the STAP01 is a freestanding fibreglass stand ideal for executive environments, and the CABT02P cabinet has inspection windows with an EPDM seal and an optional cylinder lock.
