AV Wall Plates & Outlets

AV wall plates finish a cable run at the wall with a neat socket, so a screen, laptop or audio source connects without trailing leads. The AV:Link range here includes HDMI, XLR, F-type and multimedia plates, a Bluetooth receiver plate, clip-in modules for HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, USB, audio, coax and Cat6, and brush and grommet plates that let cables pass through the wall. Plates come in single gang and double gang sizes.

Choosing AV Wall Plates & Outlets

Decide between a finished plate with its own sockets, a modular plate built from clip-in modules, and a brush plate that lets the cable itself pass through.

Ready-made connection plates

The 123.380UK has a gold plated HDMI socket with a female tail to the rear and fits a standard single mains back box, and the 123.390UK is its brushed steel twin. For audio, the 123.316UK carries one XLR socket and the 123.317UK two, each with solder terminal connections. Multimedia plates put several sockets on one 1-gang faceplate: the 122.395UK combines 4K HDMI, VGA, USB and 3.5mm audio, and the 122.387UK pairs 8K HDMI with USB4 Type-C.

Modular plates

Clip-in modules fit AV:Link wall plate module frames, so one frame can carry a mix of connections. The 122.550UK DisplayPort 2.0 and 122.545UK VGA modules measure 50mm x 25mm and have a female tail at the rear. The 122.565UK Cat6 RJ45 keystone has 180 degree punch down IDC connections and is backwards compatible with Cat5e and Cat5, and the 122.510UK blanking module closes an unused space.

Brush and grommet plates

When a lead has to run straight through to the equipment, a brush plate hides the hole. The 123.270UK is a single gang brushed steel plate with a 50x50mm aperture and twin brushes that can be removed for easier installation. The 123.275UK plastic 1-gang plate mounts straight onto the wall or into a standard UK back box, which is not supplied. The 123.281UK white replacement brushes swap for the black ones supplied with the single gang brushplates.

Frequently asked questions

How does an HDMI wall plate connect to the cable in the wall?

Through a short tail on the back of the plate. The 123.380UK has a gold plated HDMI socket with a female tail 15mm long from the back, which takes the HDMI lead run inside the wall, and it fits a standard single mains back box. The 123.390UK is the brushed steel version, and the 122.540UK puts a gold-plated HDMI socket and female tail on a 50mm x 25mm clip-in module.

What is a modular AV wall plate?

It is a frame that takes clip-in modules, so one plate can carry a mix of connections. Modules here include HDMI (122.540UK), DisplayPort 2.0 (122.550UK), VGA (122.545UK), USB Type-C (122.537UK) and Cat6 RJ45 (122.565UK). The 122.510UK blanking module fills a space you do not need yet.

What is a brush wall plate for?

It lets cables pass through the wall neatly while the brushes close the gap around them. The 123.270UK single gang brushed steel plate has a 50x50mm aperture with twin brushes that can be removed for easier installation. The 123.276UK is a double gang plastic version for a standard UK 2 gang back box, and the 122.518UK module uses a silicone grommet instead of brushes.

Is there a USB-C wall plate?

Yes, the 122.386UK is a UK type wallplate with a USB4 Type-C socket, PD and QC compatibility and a male tail 190mm from the back of the module. The 122.387UK pairs USB4 Type-C with an 8K HDMI socket on one 1-gang plate, and the 122.537UK is a clip-in USB Type-C module with a 20mm male tail for a modular frame.

Can I play music from a phone through a wall plate?

Yes, the 122.383UK is a Bluetooth receiver housed in a standard 1-gang plastic wallplate. It uses Bluetooth 5.0 with apt-X for reduced latency and a 30m transmission range, has a 3.5mm AUX in socket for non-Bluetooth devices and an internal terminal block for the signal connection, and comes supplied with a UK power supply and a 50mm backbox.

Which plates suit satellite and cable TV?

The twin F-type plates do. The 123.327UK and 123.336UK are white plastic flushmount wallplates with twin F-Type connectors for satellite and cable signals, fitting a standard single surface back box, with fixing screws and screw covers. For a modular frame, the 122.520UK is a clip-in F-Type screw coupler and the 122.560UK a coaxial module for digital TV aerials.
