Alarm Keypads

An alarm keypad is where users set and unset an intruder alarm, check its status and raise a panic alert. This collection holds wired and wireless keypads for systems such as Ajax, Texecom, Pyronix, Eaton, DMP, Hikvision, Dahua, Aritech and Honeywell, with LED and LCD keypads, 5" touchscreens and outdoor keypads, plus proximity readers, Pyronix keypad casings and a Texecom replacement button kit.

Choosing Alarm Keypads

Choose an alarm keypad by the control panel it has to work with, then by connection, display and how users will arm the system.

Match the keypad to the panel

A keypad must speak its panel's bus or radio protocol. The Texecom DBD-0125 works with Premier Elite and Premier panels, the Pyronix EUR-068 with EURO and Enforcer panels, the Eaton 09943EN with Scantronic 9853, 9851, 9752, 9751 and 9651 systems, and the Hikvision DS-PK1-E-WE with AX PRO.

Wired or wireless

Wired keypads connect to the panel by cable: the Ajax KeyPad Fibra 44401.12.WH1 runs on the Fibra bus at a nominal 24V over Cat.5 cable, and the Pyronix EUR-068 is a wired LCD keypad with 2 inputs and 1 output. Wireless keypads suit sites where cable is hard to run, such as the Ajax KeyPad 22672.12.BL1 on Jeweller radio and the Texecom GCE-0001 with Ricochet mesh and a 5-year battery life.

Display and credentials

LED keypads such as the Texecom DCA-0001 show zone status on indicators, LCD keypads such as the Texecom DBB-0001 show 32 characters of text, and touchscreens such as the DMP 7872-BINT give a 5" display. Some add a reader so users can arm with a tag or card: the Pyronix EURO-LCDPZ/SCHROME, Aritech ATS1135 and Ajax 133210.83.WH1 all do.

Outdoor and high-security sites

At an entrance, the Ajax Superior KeyPad Outdoor Fibra 117760.285.BL is rated IP66 and IK08, and the Pyronix EUR-108X external prox reader is IP65. On graded systems, the Ajax 117759.285.WH is EN 50131 Grade 3 and the Texecom DBA-0001 is PD6662:2010 Grade 3 Class II.

Frequently asked questions

What does an alarm keypad do?

An alarm keypad lets users set, unset and check an intruder alarm by entering a code, and on many models by presenting a tag or card. Text keypads can also show faults and the event log, and engineers can use them to programme the panel. The range here includes LED, LCD and touchscreen keypads.

Can you replace an alarm keypad?

Yes, a faulty or dated keypad can usually be replaced, but the new one must work with the control panel, normally the same make and a supported panel range. Note the panel model before choosing. A new keypad typically needs addressing or enrolling on the panel, often by an engineer. The range here includes wired and wireless replacement keypads.

How do you reset an alarm keypad?

After an alarm, entering a valid user code at the keypad usually silences the sirens and resets the system. Some graded or monitored systems need an engineer code or a remote reset from the alarm company before they can be set again. If the keypad shows a fault or tamper, check the system's user guide rather than cutting power to the panel.
