Specialist & Industrial Batteries

This page collects specialist batteries by type. Most are GP 3.0V lithium button cells, in sizes such as CR1220, CR1616, CR2032 and CR2450. Duracell adds a CR2025 coin cell and MN21 12V alkaline cells. GP zinc air cells are made for hearing aids and the GP CR2 is a lithium photo cell for cameras, while the Yuasa NP12-12 and Y17-12 are 12V sealed lead-acid batteries.

Choosing Specialist & Industrial Batteries

Start with the size code on the battery you are replacing, then check the voltage and pack size.

Button and coin cells

Every GP button cell here is a 3.0V lithium cell, and most come in packs of five. They suit uses such as clocks, remote controls, backup batteries and calculators. The Duracell CR2025 suits bike computers, postal and bathroom scales, glucose meters and pedometers, and it carries a ring-shaped bitter layer using Bitrex to discourage swallowing by babies and toddlers.

Remote control, camera and hearing aid cells

The Duracell 656.988UK MN21 is a 12V alkaline cell in a two pack for wireless remote controls, wireless doorbells and security systems such as alarms, and it uses Duralock Power Preserve technology. The GP 656.343UK CR2 is a 3V lithium photo cell designed for photographic cameras, with extra long life, supplied one per blister. The GP zinc air packs hold six 1.4V cells in a plastic dispenser: the 656.785UK is the PR48 size rated 230mAh, and the 656.782UK is rated 75mAh.

Yuasa lead-acid batteries

The Yuasa NP12-12 is a 12V 12Ah valve-regulated lead-acid battery with absorbed glass mat construction, lead calcium grids and Faston terminals. The Y17-12 is a 12V threaded insert sealed lead acid battery with AGM technology, rated 17Ah. The NP12-12 and Y17-12 both carry a EUROBAT classification of 3 to 5 years and recover well from deep discharge.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices use the GP lithium button cells?

The GP lithium button cells suit clocks, remote controls, backup batteries and calculators, and most also suit remote controls for car alarms. Every GP button cell here is rated 3.0V, so match the size code on the cell you are replacing, such as CR2032 or CR1632. Most sizes come in packs of five.

Do any coin cells here have a bitter coating?

Yes, the Duracell CR2025 coin cell has a ring-shaped layer with a bitter taste, using Bitrex, to discourage swallowing by babies and toddlers. The bitter layer is non-toxic and harmless if consumed. The Duracell CR2025 comes as a two pack and suits devices such as bike computers, desktop clock radios and heart rate monitors.

What is the Duracell MN21 battery used in?

The Duracell MN21 is a 12V alkaline cell for wireless remote controls, wireless doorbells and security systems such as alarms and locators. It comes as a two pack and uses Duralock Power Preserve technology, for a long storage life. For other remote control cells, see the GP button cells on this page.

Which zinc air batteries are on this page?

Two GP zinc air hearing aid packs are here, each holding six 1.4V cells in a plastic dispenser. The 656.785UK is the PR48 size, rated 230mAh, and the 656.782UK is rated 75mAh. These zinc air cells are designed for delicate devices such as hearing aids and hold a stable voltage across a wide temperature range.

What is the difference between the Yuasa NP12-12 and Y17-12?

They differ in capacity and fitting: the NP12-12 is a 12V 12Ah battery and the Y17-12 is 12V 17Ah. The NP12-12 has Faston terminals and lead calcium grids, while the Y17-12 is a threaded insert type. The NP12-12 and Y17-12 can each be used in any orientation, though the NP12-12 excludes continuous inverted use.
