GP Batteries

This is the GP Batteries collection: household, specialist and rechargeable cells from one maker. It holds batteries such as Ultra and Ultra+ alkaline and Greencell zinc chloride cells in sizes such as AA, AAA, C, D and PP3, Super Alkaline N and AAAA cells, ReCyko+ NiMH rechargeables, lithium PP3 and AA cells, CR2032 and other lithium coin cells, CR123A photo cells, high voltage cells such as the 23AE, LR44 and LR41 button cells and zinc air hearing aid batteries.

Choosing GP Batteries

Choose a GP battery by the size your device takes, then by chemistry: alkaline, zinc chloride, lithium or rechargeable NiMH.

Alkaline for everyday devices

GP Ultra Alkaline, such as the 656.010UK AA and 656.013UK AAA four-packs, is formulated for high-current devices including toys, torches, portable radios, smoke alarms and games console controllers. Ultra+ packs such as the 656.001UK AA last around 30% longer than standard Ultra, and bulk packs of 10 cover AA (656.035UK), AAA (656.036UK) and PP3 9V (656.034UK).

Zinc chloride for low-drain devices

GP Greencell zinc chloride cells are an economical choice for low to medium drain devices such as clocks, remote controls and LED torches. Sizes here include AA (656.050UK), AAA (656.053UK), C (656.055UK), D (656.057UK) and PP3 (656.060UK).

Long-life and specialist cells

The 656.331UK PP3 and 656.334UK AA lithium batteries last 2-5 times longer than ordinary alkaline cells, with a shelf life of up to 10 years, and suit smoke and fire alarms. The 656.339UK CR123A and 656.343UK CR2 are lithium photo cells for cameras, and High Voltage Alkaline cells such as the 23AE (656.006UK) serve car alarms and lighters.

Rechargeable NiMH

GP ReCyko+ NiMH batteries can be recharged hundreds of times and stay charged when not in use. The 656.154UK and 656.855UK are marked 1.2V; GP alkaline cells such as the 656.010UK are 1.5V, so check that your device accepts rechargeables.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between GP Ultra and Ultra+?

Ultra+ is the longer-lasting of the two alkaline lines. Ultra+ batteries, such as the 656.001UK AA and 656.000UK AAA four-packs, last around 30% longer than the standard Ultra range and suit digital cameras and MP3 players. Ultra, such as the 656.010UK AA, is formulated for power-hungry toys, torches, portable radios and smoke alarms.

What are GP Greencell batteries for?

Greencell batteries are GP zinc chloride cells for low to medium drain devices. Uses include clocks, remote controls, LED torches, calculators and portable radios. Sizes here include the 656.050UK AA, 656.053UK AAA, 656.055UK C, 656.057UK D and 656.060UK PP3. For high current over longer periods, GP formulates its Ultra alkaline range instead.

Which battery should I use in a smoke alarm?

Use the type the alarm maker specifies, and where a 9V or AA lithium cell is allowed, it outlasts alkaline. The GP 656.331UK PP3 and 656.334UK AA lithium batteries suit smoke and fire alarms, lasting 2-5 times longer than ordinary alkaline cells with a low self-discharge rate. GP Ultra alkaline cells such as the 656.020UK PP3 are also formulated with smoke alarms in mind.

How many times can ReCyko+ batteries be recharged?

ReCyko+ NiMH batteries can be recharged hundreds of times, stay charged when not in use and last longer than alkaline batteries. The range here covers AA at 1300mAh, 2100mAh and 2600mAh and AAA at 700mAh and 950mAh, sold in four-packs.

Which coin cell battery does my device need?

Match the code printed on the old cell exactly, such as CR2032 or CR2025, because the code sets the size. GP lithium coin cells here include the CR1220, CR1616, CR1620, CR1632, CR2025, CR2032, CR2430 and CR2450, all rated 3.0V, and most come in packs of five.

What is an LR44 battery equivalent to?

The GP LR44 alkaline button cell is also coded AG13 and A76, so a device calling for any of those codes takes the same cell. It is sold as the 656.203UK and in a pack of 10 as the 656.206UK, both at 125mAh. The smaller LR41 656.207UK replaces 92, G3A, GP192, GP92, L736 and V36A cells.

Which GP hearing aid batteries are there?

GP zinc air hearing aid batteries here include the PR48 (656.785UK), the PR41 (656.788UK) and a 75mAh pack (656.782UK), each at 1.4V and supplied six to a plastic dispenser. GP pairs its ZA13 code with PR48 and ZA312 with PR41, so either marking on your old battery identifies the cell. GP designs them to hold a stable voltage for delicate devices such as hearing aids.

What are 23AE and 27A batteries used for?

They are GP High Voltage Alkaline cells for small devices such as car alarms and lighters. The 23AE (656.006UK single, 656.007UK five-pack), the 27A (656.624UK single, 656.625UK five-pack), the 11A (656.304UK) and the 4LR44 (656.306UK) are suitable for car alarms, lighters and some cameras, built to perform over a wide range of operating temperatures.

What is a CR123A battery?

A CR123A is a 3V lithium photo cell. GP makes the 656.339UK CR123A and the 656.343UK CR2, both designed for photographic cameras, with extra long life and supplied one per blister. Match the code on the device or the old cell before you buy, because a CR123A and a CR2 are different sizes and are not interchangeable.
