Digital Video Recorders (DVRs)

A DVR records analogue HD cameras connected by coax cable, while an NVR records IP cameras over a network. Hybrid DVRs, such as the HiLook DVR-216G-M1/T, accept analogue cameras and add some IP channels, so they bridge the two while an older system is upgraded.

One channel per camera, with spare channels for future cameras. Other than the 1-channel DS-6701HTHI-4K(B), Hikvision DVRs here come in 4, 8, 16 and 32 channels and HiLook DVRs in 4, 8 and 16, such as the 4-channel HiLook DVR-204G-M1/T and the 32-channel Hikvision iDS-7332HQHI-M4/S with 4×SATA bays. The iDS-7332HQHI-M4/S also has a 4K HDMI output.

An AcuSense DVR analyses camera footage to tell people and vehicles apart from other movement, so alerts are sent for genuine events rather than for a moving shadow or branch. Hikvision AcuSense hybrid DVRs include the iDS-7204HQHI-M1/XT, iDS-7216HUHI-M2/X and iDS-7332HQHI-M4/S, and the iDS-7216HUHI-M2/X also uses H.265 Pro+ compression.

Some do: the Hikvision iDS-7216HUHI-M2/X includes a 3 TB internal hard disk and the Comelit AHDVR008A08A includes a 1TB HDD. The 4TB on the HiLook DVR-204G-M1/T is the maximum its single SATA bay takes, not a drive supplied. Otherwise, add surveillance drives, sized to the days of footage you need.

H.265 Pro+ is a video compression method on Hikvision and HiLook recorders that reduces the size of recorded footage, so the same drives hold more days of recording. It is used on DVRs such as the HiLook DVR-116G-M1/T and Hikvision iDS-7216HUHI-M2/X.

Yes. Hikvision AE-AC1130 intelligent vehicle terminals are 4-channel recorders for mobile CCTV, recording from cameras mounted on the vehicle, in variants such as the AE-AC1130-A/E8//A and AE-AC1130-A/E8//B. The Hikvision AE-MD5043 is also a 4-channel mobile DVR, and the AE-MD5043-SD/GLF records to cards.

A pentabrid DVR accepts five camera signal types on its inputs: the analogue HD formats and standard analogue, plus IP cameras. Dahua pentabrid DVRs here include the DH-XVR5216AN-I3 at 16 channels and the XVR5432L-I3 at 32, and the Hanwha Vision HRX-1635 is an 8MP pentabrid DVR.

A PoC (Power over Coax) DVR sends power to compatible cameras along the same coax cable that carries video, so no separate power cable is needed at the camera. Hikvision PoC models include the iDS-7208HUHI-M2/PXT, an 8-channel 5-8MP recorder with 2×SATA bays, and the iDS-7216HUHI-M2/PXT at 16 channels.
