Hikvision ColorVu Cameras

ColorVu is Hikvision's technology for colour images in very low light, and models such as the DS-2CD2T87G3-LIY pair it with an F1.0 lens and a built-in light for 24/7 colour. This collection holds Hikvision and HiLook ColorVu cameras in IP and Turbo-HD versions: bullet, turret and dome cameras, PIR cameras with siren and strobe, dual-lens panoramic models, ColorVu PTZ cameras, solar 4G camera kits and a wireless PIR camera detector for alarms.

Choosing Hikvision ColorVu Cameras

Choose a ColorVu camera by the recorder it will connect to, then by the light it needs at night and the view it must cover.

IP or Turbo-HD

IP models such as the DS-2CD2T87G3-LIY (8 MP) connect to an NVR or VMS over the network and run on PoE or 12 V DC. Turbo-HD models such as the DS-2CE72UF3T-LSYE (4K) send HD analogue video to a DVR, support PoC or a 12 VDC input, and have a built-in microphone with audio over coax. The HiLook THC-T229-MS is a 2 MP turret with switchable TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS output for broad DVR compatibility.

Light at night

Smart Hybrid Light cameras combine white light and IR, so they can record in colour or in infra-red: the DS-2CD2347G3-LI2UY lights its scene to around 30 m, and the white light on the DS-2CD2T87G3-LIY reaches 60 m. The anti-corrosion DS-2XC6047G0-LS uses a smart white supplement light of up to 40 m, and its polymer housing is rated IP68 for coastal or industrial sites.

Deterrence and wide views

PIR models such as the DS-2CE12UF3T-PIRXO add an integrated PIR detector, a built-in audio siren and a flashing white strobe. Dual-lens models such as the DS-2CE12KF3TP-DLS stitch a 180° panoramic view at 3K. The DS-2CD2787G2H-LIPTRZS2U/SL is a motorised pan, tilt, rotate and zoom dome, and the DS-2DE7A412MCG-EB ColorVu speed dome has 12x optical zoom and up to 100 m of white light.

Remote sites and alarms

Solar kits such as the DS-2XS6A87G1-LS/C36S80 combine an 8 MP ColorVu bullet camera with an 80 W panel, a 360 Wh battery and 4G, for remote sites without mains power or a wired network. The DS-PDPC12PF-EG2-WE(B) is a PIR detector with a 12m range, pet immunity and colour imaging day and night.

Frequently asked questions

What does ColorVu mean on a Hikvision camera?

ColorVu is Hikvision's technology for full-colour images in very low light. A camera such as the DS-2CD2T87G3-LIY combines an F1.0 aperture with a supplement light: it records colour down to 0.0005 lux and at 0 lux with its light on. Smart Hybrid Light models can also switch to infra-red when colour lighting is not wanted.

Will a ColorVu camera work with my existing DVR?

Yes, if you choose a Turbo-HD model rather than an IP camera. The HiLook THC-T229-MS has switchable TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS output for broad DVR compatibility, and Hikvision Turbo-HD models such as the DS-2CE72UF3T-LSYE give an HD analogue (Turbo-HD/TVI) output. Audio over coax needs an AoC-capable recorder, so check the DVR before relying on the built-in microphone.

Is there a ColorVu camera for a site without power?

Yes, the solar 4G kits run without mains power or a wired network. The DS-2XS2T47G1-LDH/4G/C18S40 is a 4 MP ColorVu camera kit with an integrated solar panel, built-in battery packs, 4G connectivity and IP67 protection. For more resolution, the DS-2XS6A87G1-LS/C36S80 kit pairs an 8 MP camera with an 80 W panel and a 360 Wh battery.
