Indoor Lighting

When it is cut into a ceiling that has to resist fire, such as one between floors, so the hole does not weaken it. Knightsbridge fire-rated models such as the FRNTAB, VFCFC and SPKEVTW state 30, 60 and 90 minute ratings in solid timber joists, and several list shorter ratings for web or I-joists, so check the rating against the ceiling construction.

IP65 downlights such as the Knightsbridge RDSHW, which are protected against jets of water. The RDSHW and RDSHCBR are GU10 downlights designed for bathrooms and shower rooms, the VFRSHGICW is an IP65 fire-rated shower downlight, and the SpektroLED Evo SPKEVF is IP65 rated for wet and dry locations. Check the bathroom zone the fitting is suitable for before installing it.

A GU10 fitting if you want to change the lamp, its colour or its wattage later, and an integrated LED fitting for a sealed unit with the light source built in. GU10 fittings such as the Knightsbridge Odina ODA1TSW take a separate lamp, while SpektroLED Evo and SARA downlights such as the SPKEVTW and SA3040C have the LEDs built in, with switchable wattage and colour temperature.

It means the colour temperature is set on the fitting, so one product can give warm, neutral or cool white. The Knightsbridge ASHA AS20CWA switches between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K, the SARA SA3040CDALI offers 3000K, 4000K and 5000K, and SpektroLED Evo models such as the SPKEVTW have selectable colour temperatures too.

A track is fixed to the ceiling and fed with power, and spotlights clip on along it. The Knightsbridge single circuit tracks are made in 1m, 2m and 3m lengths. Power feeds such as the TRKPF1W and central connectors such as the TRKC1W bring the supply in, flexible and right-angle connectors join runs, and TRKSP spotlights such as the TRKSP1AW take GU10 lamps.

Most take a GU10 lamp, and the TRKSP6W takes a G9. The Knightsbridge TRKSP1AW, TRKSP2ABK and TRKSP3ABC spotlights take standard retrofit GU10 lamps rated at 50W maximum, supplied separately, are dimmable subject to the lamp, and turn 350° and tilt 80°. The TRKAD1W track adaptor instead takes a pendant, with a maximum load of 100W and a maximum weight of 5kg.

A batten fitting made to take LED tubes directly, supplied without a ballast or driver. The Knightsbridge T8LB25 is a 5ft twin T8 LED-ready batten in white pressed steel for self-ballasting T8 LED tubes, sold in packs of 4, while the BATS6 is a 6ft 42W batten with built-in LEDs giving 4875 lumens and push-fit loop-in, loop-out connectors.

LED flex is a flexible strip of LEDs with a self-adhesive backing, used for coves, shelves and accent lighting. Knightsbridge IP20 flex such as the LFC24R3M red is for indoor use and can be cut in 100mm sections, while IP67 flex such as the LFC24IPDL3M daylight suits indoor and outdoor use at 590 lumens per metre.

A profile houses LED tape neatly and puts a diffuser over the LEDs. The LYYT 156.838UK is a 2m two-way bar supplied with two clip-in diffusers, end caps and mounting clips for up and down or lateral lighting, the 156.820UK is a 1m wardrobe rail with an angled slide-in diffuser, and the 156.944UK is a plaster-in profile for a flush finish.
