LYYT makes LED tape, rope lights and string lights, together with the power supplies, controllers, connectors and aluminium profiles that go with them. Build an LYYT installation around the light itself: choose the tape or rope first, then its power supply, controller, connectors and mounting.

LED tape and COB strip

12V single colour tapes such as the 156.716UK warm white come on 5m reels, IP65 rated, with 60 LEDs per metre. The 24V high output 156.776UK gives 720lm/m, and seamless COB strips such as the 156.665UK pack 528 LEDs per metre for a continuous no-spot line with a CRI of 90. The 30m IP66 tapes, such as the 156.745UK dome frosted tape, give a smooth look without a profile.

Kits and power supplies

DIY kits such as the 153.722UK put 5m of 12V IP65 tape and a UK power adaptor in one box, and the 153.806UK pairs 5m of 24V COB tape with a UK power supply. For separate tape, match the supply to the tape voltage: the IP67 12Vdc supplies run from 30W to 150W and the IP67 24Vdc supplies from 30W to 300W, with 1 or 2 outputs for loop connection.

Controllers, connectors and profiles

Controllers include the 153.741UK RGB controller with a 24 key IR remote, the 153.793UK RF dimmer for single colour tape and the 153.896UK RGBW WiFi controller with a wall plate and voice control. Snap-fit and solderless connectors, such as the 156.649UK for 10mm COB strip, join tape without soldering. Aluminium profiles in 1m and 2m lengths protect and diffuse the tape, and the 156.853UK bends to a radius as small as 50mm.

Rope and string lights

The 50m LED rope lights, such as the 153.456UK, are IP44 in a 13mm tube and need a separate power lead or controller. String lights include heavy duty IP44 sets with rubber cable, net lights such as the 155.447UK, of which up to 50 sets can run from one plug, and connectable festoon lights such as the 155.680UK.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose 12V or 24V LED tape?

Choose the tape first, then a power supply of the same voltage, because the two must match. LYYT 12V tapes include the 156.716UK and DIY tape kits such as the 153.722UK, while its 24V tapes include the high output 156.776UK, seamless COB strips such as the 156.665UK, and 30m IP66 tapes such as the 156.745UK. The largest 24Vdc supply here is 300W (153.764UK), against 150W for the largest 12Vdc supply (153.756UK).

Can I cut LED tape and rope light to length?

Yes, at the marked cutting points. The 153.722UK DIY tape can be cut every 5cm and the 153.727UK RGB tape at 10cm intervals. The 50m 153.456UK rope light can be cut only at the marks every 2 metres and the 45m 155.015UK at 1 metre intervals, and LYYT asks for any joints or cut ends on rope light to be made waterproof.

What size power supply do I need for LED tape?

Choose a supply with the same voltage as the tape and enough wattage for the full length you are running. The LYYT IP67 24Vdc supplies run from 30W to 300W and the IP67 12Vdc supplies from 30W to 150W. For the 30m 156.745UK tape, LYYT gives a recommended maximum run of 10m from a single power supply, so plan longer runs in sections.

How do I join LED tape without soldering?

Use the snap-fit or solderless connectors made for your tape width and type. The 156.649UK connectors join 10mm single colour COB strip by crimping over the copper contact points and come in a pack of 5, and flexible links such as the 156.147UK join lengths of tape with 150mm of wire. For the DIY kits, LYYT makes 8mm single colour and 10mm RGB snap-fit connectors such as the 156.135UK and 156.136UK.

Does an LYYT rope light come with a power lead?

No, the 50m LED rope lights such as the 153.456UK are not supplied with a power connection. Use the 153.562UK power cable for static light or the 153.564UK controller for 8 chase and flash settings; the 153.564UK can power up to 50m of rope light and the 153.562UK up to 100m. The 45m 230V rope lights such as the 155.015UK need the 153.624UK power lead.

Which LYYT lights work without mains wiring?

Battery, rechargeable and solar lights need no mains wiring. The 154.850UK twin LED floodlight runs on 6x AA batteries (not supplied) with a motion sensor, the 410.313UK motion sensing strip lights recharge over USB-C and light for 15 seconds when triggered, and the 154.842UK is a solar wall light with a motion sensor. The 155.611UK outdoor string lights are battery powered.
