Garden & Decking Lights

Garden and decking lights are low-level outdoor fittings that light paths, steps, borders and decks, set into the ground, fixed to walls or spiked into soil. This range covers Knightsbridge ground and deck lights, bollards, spike lights, brick and wall guide lights and a garden post light, with LYYT rope, string, cluster and berry lights for decorative outdoor lighting on fences, trees and pergolas.

Choosing Garden & Decking Lights

Choose garden lighting by where the light sits, how much traffic passes over or near it, and the protection rating the position needs.

Ground and deck lights

Ground lights are recessed flush into paving or decking. The Knightsbridge 316WALK is an IP67 stainless steel ground light rated for a 1000kg load, and the WGULED is a 105MM driveover light, both taking a GU10 lamp. Small LED deck lights such as the LEDM08W1 give 90lm from 1.7W, and 24V fittings such as the 4IPW run from a DC driver.

Bollards and posts

Bollards light a path edge: the GDL2 is a 650mm GU10 bollard rated IP54, the BLP10CCT is 780mm tall with adjustable CCT, the CBL15SS is 950mm stainless steel, and the CBL22BK and CBL26BK are 1000mm in matt black; the BLP10CCT, CBL15SS, CBL22BK and CBL26BK are each rated IP65. The GDL3 is an 1100mm GU10 garden post light, and the GDLMK23 kit fixes bollards into concrete.

Spikes, bricks and walls

Spike lights push into a border to uplight plants: the EAMON EASPK1 takes a 5W GU10, and GUSPIKES takes up to 35W. Brick lights set into a wall beside steps, and wall guide lights such as the RWL2A mark a route with 105 Lumens.

Decorative lighting

LYYT 230V rope lights come on 45m reels rated IP44, and multi-sequence cluster lights carry 960 LEDs over 14m with a timer. Remote controlled berry lights and heavy duty string lights add colour to trees, fences and pergolas.

Frequently asked questions

Can you drive over ground lights?

Yes, if the light is rated for it. The Knightsbridge WGULED is a stainless steel driveover ground light rated IP67, and the 316WALK is rated for a 1000kg load. Smaller deck and marker lights are for foot traffic, so check the load rating on the product page before fitting in a driveway.

What IP rating do garden lights need?

Fittings set into the ground need the highest rating because water can pool around them, and ratings here vary by model. The Knightsbridge 316WALK, WGULED and 4IPW ground lights are IP67, and recessed ground lights such as the LDGL5 are IP65. The CBL22BK bollard, GUSPIKES and BL5BK are IP65; the GDL2 bollard, GDL3 post light and BLED5 brick light are IP54; and the BL01BK and LYYT rope lights are IP44.

What height garden bollard should I choose?

Bollards in this range run from the 650mm Knightsbridge GDL2 to the 1000mm CBL22BK and CBL26BK, with the 780mm BLP10CCT and 950mm CBL15SS between them, and the GDL3 post light is 1100mm. Lower bollards light the path surface closely, while taller ones spread light further along a drive or walkway.

What is a spike light used for?

A spike light pushes into soil to uplight plants, trees or garden features, and can be moved as the planting changes. The Knightsbridge EAMON EASPK1 takes a 5W GU10 lamp in several finishes, and the GUSPIKES square spike light takes up to 35W, with a 2m cable.

What is a brick light?

A brick light is a small outdoor fitting set into or onto a wall at low level, often beside steps or a path. Knightsbridge brick lights include the BL01BK, a recessed IP44 fitting taking a 40W E27 lamp, and the BL5BK, a 5W IP65 surface-mount LED light with adjustable CCT.

Can rope lights be used outdoors?

Yes. LYYT 230V rope lights are rated IP44 and come on 45m reels in clear, red, green and yellow, with dimmable rice bulbs, and the 155.015UK, 155.025UK and 155.030UK state 16.4W/m. They suit outlining paths, decks and fences, and must be uncoiled before they are switched on.

Are there 24V garden lights?

Yes. The Knightsbridge 4IPW and 4IPB small stainless steel ground lights run at 24V DC from a separate driver and are rated IP67, while mains fittings such as the CBL22BK bollard run directly from 230V. Choose low voltage or mains to suit the circuit you are connecting to.

What are deck lights?

Deck lights are small recessed LED fittings set flush into decking boards or steps to mark edges and routes. The Knightsbridge LEDM08W1 is a 1.7W IP65 stainless steel deck light giving 90lm at 4000K, and the LEDM06B mini ground light has 3 interchangeable heads in blue.
