CDVI Magnetic Locks

CDVI magnetic locks hold doors secure as part of an access control system. The page has surface and mortice maglocks, including 500kg and 180kg models, a magnetic pull handle and a transom housing that carry two 300kg magnets apiece, a fail-safe magnetic door holder for fire doors, a shearlock surface housing and fitting parts such as a Z&L bracket, an armature housing, a mimic handle and a cover strip.

Choosing CDVI Magnetic Locks

Choose by holding force, by where the lock is fitted and by whether you need status monitoring.

Maglocks

The S500-MI is a 500kg electromagnetic lock that comes with brackets for mounting. The I500ER is a stainless-steel mortice maglock with 500kg holding force for exterior and harsh environments; it runs on 12–24 V DC, has monitored NO/NC outputs for access control panels and is fail-safe, unlocking on loss of power. The V1SR is a surface-mounted lock with 180kg holding force, 12 or 24V DC operation, live status monitoring and LED indication, and it is packed with safety cables so the magnet cannot fall out during installation.

Handles and housings

The BO600RP is a 2500mm architectural pull handle with two 300kg monitored magnets, for new or existing wooden, metal or glass doors; it can be used externally and cut down to size. For a double-action swing door, the PRP-800 is a mimic handle for the non-magnetised side, so users can pull from either direction. The BO800-C25 is a BO800 cover strip for architectural maglocks, sold as a 25 metre length. The AH3-22HM is a 2m transom housing fitted into the door frame, mounted horizontally and supplied with two 300kg electro-magnetic locks.

Brackets and door holders

The 500-ZL Z&L bracket mounts CDVI 500kg internal surface maglocks on inward- or outward-opening doors and adjusts in depth between 50.5 and 101 mm. The AMA3 is an aluminium surface housing for the armature plate of CDVI 300 kg locks, for door leaves where recessed fitting is not possible. The VIRA5024 is a wall-mounted, fail-safe magnetic door holder for fire doors with 50 kg holding force on 24 V DC and a manual test release button.

What does maglock holding force mean?

It is the pull, in kilograms, that a magnetic lock resists while powered, so a 500 kg lock holds harder than a 180 kg one. CDVI's S500-MI and I500ER hold 500kg and the V1SR 180kg, while the BO600RP pull handle and AH3-22HM transom housing each carry two 300kg magnets. The VIRA5024 door holder has a 50 kg holding force.

How do I install a magnetic lock?

Fix the magnet to the frame and its armature plate to the door so they meet when it closes, adding a bracket or housing where the door needs one. The CDVI 500-ZL Z&L bracket fixes the magnet and armature of a 500 kg internal surface lock and adjusts in depth from 50.5 to 101 mm, and the AMA3 holds the armature plate of a 300 kg lock where a recessed fit is not possible. The AH3-22HM transom housing fits into the door frame.

How do I add a handle to the non-magnetic side of a door?

Fit a mimic pull handle on the non-magnetised side, so the door can be pulled from either direction when the magnetic handle is on the other side. The CDVI PRP-800 is a 2500mm mimic handle made for doors that use a magnetic architectural pull handle such as the BO600RP, which carries two 300kg monitored magnets. A double-action swing door may need a second handle.
