Burglar Alarm Bell Boxes
A bell box is the external sounder and strobe on the outside wall of a building: it sounds and flashes when the intruder alarm triggers, and shows at a glance that an alarm is fitted. This range has wired sounders and backplates such as the Texecom Odyssey and Pyronix Deltabell modules, wireless sounders from makers such as Texecom, Ajax, Dahua and Hikvision, covers and enclosures, and an LED module for dummy bell boxes.

Choosing Burglar Alarm Bell Boxes
Choose a bell box to suit the panel it works with, the grade of the system and the cover you want.
Wired or wireless
A wired sounder is connected to the panel by fixed wiring, and many carry a backup battery: the Eaton SDR-WEXT-00 has a built-in 9V NiMH battery. A wireless sounder has to use the panel's radio system. The Texecom GBS-0001 uses Ricochet and runs on 8 x AA lithium batteries, the Hikvision DS-PS1-E-WE joins AX PRO systems over 868 MHz two-way radio, and the Ajax StreetSiren links to an Ajax hub over Jeweller.
Grade and standards
Match the sounder to the grade of the system. The Texecom Premier Odyssey 4E FCD-0261 meets PD6662:2017 Grade 2 Class IV, while the Odyssey 4 FCD-0259 meets Grade 3 Class IV, and the Elmdene RAPIER-G3S is designed to EN50131-4:2009 Grade 3 and 4. Pyronix Deltabell modules include the Grade 2 FPDELTAP2MOD and the Grade 3 FPDELTAE3MOD.
Sound, strobe and tamper
Output varies: Texecom wireless backplates such as the GBR-0001 give 105dB(A), economy Odyssey backplates such as the FCE-0043 give 109dB with IP44 electronics, and the Premier Elite FCC-1153 gives 115dB from a 1.5mm galvanised steel case. The Premier Elite FCC-1111 is IP65 with screw, lid and wall tamper and a patented engineer hold-off mode for safe installation.
Covers and modules
The Texecom Odyssey X1 cover WDA-0003 is offered for wired, wireless and dummy versions, and the Pyronix FPDELTAX2MOD module needs its lightbox bought separately.

Frequently asked questions
What is an alarm bell box?
An alarm bell box is the outdoor siren and strobe unit of an intruder alarm, mounted high on a wall where it is hard to reach. It sounds and flashes when the alarm is triggered, and its visible housing also deters intruders. The strobe often keeps flashing after the siren stops, so the property can be found. The range here includes wired and wireless bell boxes, backplates and covers.
How does a wired alarm bell box work?
A wired alarm bell box is cabled back to the control panel, which powers it and tells it when to sound. A self-activating bell box carries a rechargeable battery and sounds by itself if its wiring is cut or the cover is removed. The range here includes wired sounders and backplates by Texecom, Pyronix, Eaton and Elmdene.
How do I replace an alarm bell box?
Check that the new bell box suits the panel, its wiring or radio system and the grade of the alarm. Before removing the old unit, put the panel into engineer or test mode, as the tamper would otherwise set off the siren. Some sounders add an engineer hold-off mode for safe fitting. The range here includes replacement sounders, backplates and covers.
What battery does an external alarm box use?
A wired external alarm box usually holds a rechargeable battery, often NiMH or a small sealed lead acid type, which the panel keeps charged. Wireless sounders run on their own batteries, such as lithium cells, and need new ones when the panel reports a low battery. Check the maker's instructions for the exact type. The range here includes wired and wireless bell boxes.
Can a burglar alarm box cover be replaced on its own?
Yes, many bell boxes are made as a backplate that holds the electronics and a separate cover, so a faded or damaged cover can be swapped without rewiring. The new cover has to match the backplate model. The range here includes replacement covers by Texecom and Eaton.
