Nurse Call Systems
Nurse call systems let patients and residents call for staff help and show staff where the call was made. This page has call points, infrared ceiling receivers and pendants, bed and chair exit mats, overdoor lights, sounders, controllers and corridor displays from C-TEC, Intercall, Hoyles, Bell System and Scope. They include C-TEC 800 Series and Quantec Addressable Call System parts, and the Intercall L722 call point with 5 levels of call.

Choosing Nurse Call Systems
Start with the call system on site, then choose how calls are raised and how staff are alerted.
Call points and receivers
The Intercall L722 call point has a jack socket that accepts pear leads, pressure mats and portable radio triggers. The C-TEC QT302RXR master infrared ceiling receiver accepts infrared calls from Quantec staff attack transmitters and patient and staff pendants, and the QT302RXS slave adds coverage, with up to three per master. For car parks and loading bays, the C-TEC QT422RX radio receiver operates at 868.3 MHz with typical RF coverage of 60m.
Bed, chair and floor sensors
The C-TEC QT644 is a 90cm x 60cm floor pressure mat that triggers a Standard call on a Quantec or 800 Series system when foot pressure is detected. The C-TEC QT638 PIR movement sensor connects to the slave input on a QT602 or QT609 call point, for example to monitor a patient getting out of bed.
Dementia care
The C-TEC QT630 is an engineer-programmable dementia care master controller with the inputs, outputs and timers to connect devices such as PIRs, enuresis sensors, bed exit mats and door contacts. It can switch lights on and off when movement is detected, and comes with 10 pre-set monitoring configurations.
Lights, sounders and displays
The Hoyles S1788PR overdoor light/sounder has four adjustable tones, up to 108 dB at 12V DC. The C-TEC NC944 is a four zone call controller with an onboard buzzer, MUTE and RESET buttons, and the NC910EF adds 10 zones to an NC910F or NC920F controller. The Intercall L628 LCD display has Day/Night tone settings and zoning.

Frequently asked questions
What call levels can a nurse call point raise?
A nurse call point can raise a routine call and higher-priority calls such as assistance or emergency, depending on the system it is part of. The Intercall L722 non-audio call point has 5 levels of call: call, assistance, priority, emergency and staff presence. The C-TEC QT602E addressable call point includes Standard, Ensuite, Help Required and Emergency calls, with a Call button, Reset button and red/green confidence light.
Can patients call for help without a call lead?
Yes, a pendant lets a patient trigger a call through an infrared or radio receiver instead of a call lead. The C-TEC QT432 and QT432W pendants let patients in bedrooms and communal areas trigger standard calls via a Quantec infrared call point, ceiling receiver or radio receiver, which avoids long, potentially hazardous tail call leads. The QT432W has a 10m line-of-sight IR transmitting range.
How do staff see which call is most urgent?
A nurse call display shows the highest priority calls first, and overdoor lights change their flash pattern to show urgency. The C-TEC QT608C/SS corridor display adds a message saying how many calls are waiting, and its flash and sounder rates intensify to reflect the urgency of incoming calls. Outside rooms, the QT606 slave overdoor light changes its flash and colour sequence to reflect the urgency of the call.
Can staff be alerted when a patient leaves a bed or chair?
Yes, a bed or chair exit mat senses the pressure change when a patient gets up and triggers a call. The C-TEC QT633 bed exit mat and QT634 chair exit mat connect to Quantec through a remote jack socket. The QT644 floor pressure mat sits alongside a bed and triggers a Standard call on a Quantec or 800 Series system when foot pressure is detected.
What does a nurse call overdoor light show?
It shows staff outside a bedroom or WC that a call has been made there. The C-TEC NC806C indicates Standard calls with a constant red light and Emergency calls with a pulsing red light, from dual red LEDs and a triangular diffuser, and mounts on a standard UK 25mm single gang back box. The NC806CS adds a constant or pulsing tone.
