C-TEC Quantec Slave Overdoor Light with Sounder, IP41 QT606S

Overview

On a nurse call system, an overdoor light tells staff in a corridor which room has called. This one adds a sounder, so a call can be heard before the light comes into view.

It is a C-TEC device for Quantec sites. As a slave, it works with another device in the room.

How it works

• Slave operation: its connections are R (Red), G (Green), Net + and Net -, wired as a slave to the room's device.
• Urgency: as a call becomes more urgent, the flash rate, colour sequence and sound sequence all intensify. That lets staff judge a call without reading a display.
• Diffuser: the triangular diffuser and dual LEDs make the light highly visible from a distance.

Where to use it

It goes outside bedrooms and WCs. The operating range of -5°C to +40°C suits normal indoor areas, and IP41 gives only light protection against dripping water.

It also features in C-TEC's QT951 Accessible Toilet Alarm kit, so check that kit first if an accessible toilet is the job.

What the figures mean in practice

• Current: less than 1.5mA at rest and 40mA in alarm. Use the alarm figure when adding up the load for several lights.
• Depth: at 54 D mm, it is worth checking the clearance above a door in a tight corridor.

Installing it

Fit a UK 25mm single gang back box above the door first, flush or surface. Then follow C-TEC's instructions for the slave wiring.

Mount it where the light can be seen along the corridor, and check that the sound carries to where staff are.

Planning your system

A nurse call system is separate from the fire alarm, so do not count this sounder towards fire alarm coverage. Each light needs a call point or reset point to wire to.
