C-TEC Sounders

Choose by the panel first, then by mounting and whether the device must also flash or speak.

Conventional ActiV sounders

ActiV conventional sounders work with C-TEC fire panels and compatible third-party panels. The BF430C/CC/DR wall sounder gives 100dB(A) at 1m from a deep base, with 31 selectable primary tones, and draws 5.5mA at 30Vdc. The BF431C/CC/W is a 96dB(A) ceiling base sounder, and the BF456C/CC/W adds a VAD with a C-3-8.5 light distribution.

Addressable: XFP/ZFP and CAST

Addressable sounders have to match the panel protocol. CX models such as the BF456A/CX/W are made for C-TEC's XFP/ZFP XP95/Discovery addressable panels, and the BF430A/CX/DR gives 103dB(A) at 1m with an onboard short-circuit loop isolator, 7 volume levels and up to 15 tone pairs. CAST models use C-TEC's own protocol: the CA431A/W base sounder gives 92dB(A), and the CA430A/DR/65 is an IP55 weatherproof wall sounder at 100 dB(A) with four volume levels and 31 tones.

Light, voice and evacuation

A sounder VAD adds a flashing light rated for the area it covers: the CA433A/DR provides a W-2.75-9 light distribution and the BF433A/CX/SR W-2.4-8.2 when wall mounted. Voice sounders give spoken messages: the CA454A/W has six selectable messages with tones, and the BF454A/CX/W three voice message pairs. The self-testing BF430C/EA/SW is designed for a CAST-powered EVAC-ALERT system.

Special applications

The IS-SB-02-02 is an intrinsically safe sounder beacon for potentially explosive atmospheres, giving 105dB(A) with an IP66 rating. The HP430A/DR/65 is designed for Hush-Pro domestic fire alarm systems, and the NC888D is a remote sounder for 800 Series nurse call controllers. The FF502P is a four-zone monitored sounder circuit extender, and the Z15 PCB adds four 1A 6K8 conventional sounder circuits to a ZFP panel.
