C-TEC QT608C Quantec corridor display, front angled view

C-TEC Quantec Corridor Display with Controls, 2 Line LCD and Onboard Sounder QT608C

What this display does

In a care home or ward, staff cannot stand by the controller waiting for calls. A display on the corridor wall brings the information to where they are working.

This C-TEC unit belongs to the Quantec system and takes its power and data from the network. It is not a stand-alone device.

How it works

  • Priority order: the most serious call takes the screen, and a count tells staff that others are behind it.
  • Accept: the A button lets a member of staff acknowledge a call at the display.
  • Scroll: the up and down buttons move through the waiting calls.
  • Divert: calls can be manually diverted. How that is set up depends on the system, so check C-TEC's instructions.

Where to use it

It is for corridors, staff rooms and nursing stations. At IP40 it is for dry indoor walls, within -5ºC to +40ºC.

Place displays where staff naturally pass and can read them from the corridor, and agree the positions with whoever designs the nurse call system.

What the figures mean in practice

  • 16 character x 2 line: two short lines of text, so location names need to be kept brief when the system is set up.
  • IP40: protected against small solid objects, with no rated protection against water.
  • 5mA with back light off: this is the standby draw with the back light off. Check C-TEC's documentation for the figure with the back light on when working out the load.

Installing it

Fit a 35mm deep back box first. The guide to back box depth explains what the extra room is for.

Wire it to Net + and Net –. The external sounder output has low limits, so check the sounder against them rather than assuming it will drive anything.

Planning your system

The display needs a Quantec Controller/Network to work from. It shows User ID or name only where the calling device supports that.

A Quantec addressable call point is the usual way to raise a call from a room. Work out how many displays each area needs at the design stage.
