A licence is bought against a named platform, so start with the software or recorder already running, then count the cameras, users or sites it has to cover.

AXIS Camera Station licences

Axis Communications supplies the most licences here. Under AXIS Camera Station 5.0 an Axis device needs one Core Device or Universal Device licence, and a third party camera needs one Universal Device licence for its IP address, as the 0879-050 page sets out. A camera with more than one image sensor still needs a single device licence. The 0879-080 pack holds 32 Core Device licences, the maximum a system can register. Recorder licences such as the 02994-001 are tied to the hardware for its lifetime.

Analytics licences

The Axis 0333-608 AXIS Perimeter Defender licence adds edge-based intrusion, zone crossing and loitering detection, and can sync with a PTZ camera for autotracking under a separate licence. The 01574-001 licence reads number plates on slow freeflow traffic, rated for 70 km/h (45mph), for vehicle access control with allow- and blocklists.

Other video licences

The Dahua DHI-DSSPro8-MultiSite-License is a DSS Professional V8 licence for 1 control channel of MultiSite manageability, letting PC clients access other sites. The i-PRO WJ-NXC05W adds concurrent users to a recorder once registered with a key from the Key Management System, and the WJ-NXS16W is a secure communication licence for up to 16 channels. The HikCentral Professional parking licence manages one parking space and needs the Entrance & Exit Module.

Fire and alarm software

The Advanced PC-NET-005-L3P is MxPro graphical control software, showing site maps, isolation status and analogue values. C-TEC ENVISION licences such as the ENV/S4-5 give cloud based remote access, testing and reports. The Kidde 2010-2SW-FS connects 2010-2 panels to mobile devices through the FiRe application server. The JCI Visonic 0-703777 licenses PowerManage for monitoring companies.

Expansion licences added to a server are also tied to that server for the lifetime of the hardware.

What does the Dahua DSS MultiSite licence do?

It lets DSS Professional V8 PC clients reach other sites. The DHI-DSSPro8-MultiSite-License covers 1 control channel of MultiSite manageability, allowing PC clients to access other sites or be accessed by PC clients from other sites. Buy it for a DSS Professional V8 installation, as the licence is written for that version of the platform.

Is there software for monitoring fire panels remotely?

Yes, C-TEC ENVISION is cloud based remote access software. ENVISION licences such as the ENV/S4-1 send fires, faults and tests in real time to a PC, tablet or smart phone and schedule site reports daily, weekly or monthly. The C-TEC ENV-HUB works with ZFP CAST, XFP CAST, HUSH and EVAC-ALERT systems. For Kidde 2010-2 panels, the 2010-2SW-FS links the panel to mobile devices.
