Texecom PIR Sensors

Texecom detectors from the Capture, Premier and Veritas families sense intruders for an alarm system. Most of this page is PIR motion detection: wall-mounted Capture PIRs, anti-masking dual-tech, the LR50 long-range corridor PIR, the C15 curtain PIR, pet-tolerant detectors and Premier External TD outdoor sensors, in wired and Ricochet wireless versions. It also lists Impaq vibration and glass-break detectors and Exodus heat detectors.

Choosing Texecom PIR Sensors

Choose by the space to be protected first, then by how the detector connects to the panel.

Room PIRs and pet-tolerant models

For rooms, wall-mounted Capture PIRs such as the GDA-0001 (P15-W) and GDA-0006 cover 15m at 90° with an optional PetWise mode, and the GDB-0006 (Q20-W) is a quad PIR covering 20m at 90°. The GDH-0001 Capture PET detector is designed for homes with large pets and covers 15m at 90°. The Veritas AAA-0001 and AAC-0001 give 12m volumetric coverage with sealed optics and an interchangeable lens library.

Anti-masking, ceiling and long range

The AKE-0001 (A20 Capture) combines a quad element pyro with K-band microwave detection, covers 20m at 85° and is rated EN50131-2-4 Grade 3 with anti-masking. The GDE-0001 Capture CD-W is a ceiling-mounted dual-tech detector that runs on one CR123A lithium battery, which is included. For corridors, the Capture LR50 (AKW-0001, GDF-0001) is a 50m long-range PIR, and the Capture C15 (GDG-0001) is a curtain PIR for windows, doorways and high-value assets.

Outdoor sensors and other detectors

The Premier External TD (AFQ-0001, AFQ-0002) is a purpose-built outdoor sensor with an IP65 sealed enclosure and a mounting height of 1.0-1.4m, and the wireless GBW-0002 TD-W has a selectable 12m, 8m, 5m or 2m range on 2 x AA lithium batteries, which are supplied. Beyond PIRs, the AEC-0001 glass-break detector has a 9m maximum range and a 170° detection angle, the AEA-0001 and AEA-0002 are Veritas Impaq vibration detectors, and the AGB-0003 and AGB-0004 are EN54-5 Exodus heat detectors.

How does a Texecom wireless PIR work?

A Texecom wireless PIR detects movement in the same way as a wired one, but it runs on batteries and reports alarm and tamper signals to the panel by radio. It must be paired with a Ricochet-capable panel or wireless expander. Mount it away from heaters and direct sunlight, and check battery levels during routine servicing. The range here includes Ricochet wireless PIR and dual-tech detectors.

How do you wire a Texecom PIR sensor?

A wired Texecom PIR usually connects to the alarm panel with multi-core alarm cable. One pair typically powers the detector off the panel's auxiliary power output, one pair goes to the alarm contacts on a zone, and another pair carries the tamper circuit. Some panels need end-of-line resistors to match the zone type, so check the panel's instructions. Wireless Ricochet models need no zone wiring.
