It lets a landlord or site owner charge an occupant for the electricity their unit uses, with the occupant paying in advance. The Metro prepaid meters here are fitted after the main supply meter on the circuit feeding a rental unit, a workshop or a private EV charger.

On all four Metro meters, the MET001, MET003, MET004 and MET200, a power code is bought through PayPoint vending and entered on the meter. The MET004 also has a wired remote keypad, so credit can be entered away from the meter itself, which can then sit in a cupboard or riser.

The MET003, a digital prepaid three-phase electricity meter rated 100A and IP54. The MET001, MET004 and MET200 are single-phase meters rated 80A, 80A and 60A, so choose by the supply type and the maximum current of the circuit being metered, not by the rating of the main supply.

It means the meter is approved under the Measuring Instruments Directive, the approval expected of a meter whose readings are used for billing. All four Metro meters here, the MET001, MET003, MET004 and MET200, are MID certified; the MET001 and MET200 also state it in their titles.

The Metro MET001, MET003, MET004 and MET200 are rated IP54, which protects against dust and splashing water, so they suit plant rooms, outbuildings and communal cupboards. For a fully exposed wall, fit the meter inside a suitable weatherproof enclosure rather than directly in the weather.

Fit the Haydon HAY-DC-M inline DC volt and amp meter between the supply and the load. It reads 5-35 V circuits up to 7 A through a 2.1 mm DC socket and plug, and its description names CCTV cameras as the use it especially suits, on a bench or in a cabinet.

The main supply meter measures everything a property takes from the grid; a sub-meter sits after it and measures one circuit, such as the supply to a flat or workshop. The Metro MET001, MET004 and MET200 here are single-phase prepaid sub-meters at 80A, 80A and 60A, and the MET003 is three phase at 100A.

The Metro MET001 and MET004 are rated 80A and the MET200 60A, all single phase, and the MET003 three-phase meter is rated 100A. Choose a rating at or above the maximum current of the circuit the meter will measure, not the rating of the main supply.
