Haydon parts are chosen to suit something already on site, so begin with the voltage, cable or recorder in place.

Power supplies

Boxed 12V DC units with battery backup, such as the HAY-PSU12V3ABB, give 3 A at 13.8 Vdc nominal, take a 7Ah lead acid battery and have tamper detection and short-circuit protection for alarm and access control systems. Multi-output units feed several cameras from one box: the HAY-PSUMULTI10A has 16 outputs, four rated 2.5A and twelve rated 1.1A, within 10A in total. For 24 VAC cameras, the HAY-PSU4/1-1/4A24 gives four 1 A outputs or a single 4 A output with auto-reset PTC fuses. Outdoors, the HAY-PSUIP1X2A-12VDC gives 12 V DC at 2 A in an IP66 polycarbonate case.

Fire and access control power

The HAY-PSUEN54-2A is an EN54-4 compliant 27.6 V DC supply rated 2 A, with battery monitoring, deep-discharge protection and a volt-free mains-fail relay in a lockable steel case. The HAY-FIRE-ISO is a double-pole fire isolation switch, fused at F4A, that isolates live and neutral for maintenance. For doors, the HAY-ACCESS12/24V8/4A-8W switches between 12 VDC at 8 A and 24 VDC at 4 A, with eight fused outputs and a trigger relay.

Baluns, enclosures and evidence

The HAY-HDVB01POC-PT passive balun carries HD-TVI, CVI, AHD, CVBS and PoC camera video over one twisted pair, and the HAY-HDPVB02 sends power and video together. The HAY-POE-MULTI runs two IP cameras over a single Cat5/6 cable. Lockable DVR/NVR enclosures keep a recorder out of reach: the fan-cooled model has two fans to expel hot air. When footage is handed over, the HAY-5USB16GBPK provides five 16GB USB drives with tamper-proof evidence bags, and it pairs with the HAY-MUSBKT32GB master kit and its incident report logs.

A battery backup supply keeps an alarm or access control system running when the mains fails. The HAY-PSU12V3ABB gives 3 A at 13.8 Vdc and supports 7Ah lead acid batteries for continued operation during a mains failure. What is an EN54-4 power supply?

An EN54-4 power supply, such as the HAY-PSUEN54-2A, is an uninterruptible supply compliant with EN54-4 for fire detection and alarm systems. It gives 27.6 V DC at 2 A, switches to battery automatically when the mains is lost and monitors the battery, with typical standby of two 7 Ah batteries. The HAY-PSUEN54-5A is the 5 A version, with automatic mains-to-battery switchover and a fault relay.

How does a video balun carry CCTV over network cable?

A video balun lets an analogue HD camera send its picture over twisted pair network cable instead of coax. The HAY-HDVB01POC-PT is a passive single-channel balun for HD-TVI, CVI, AHD, CVBS and PoC cameras, with built-in surge protection. The HAY-HDPVB02 adds power over the same run, rated for HD-TVI at 150m for 4K/8MP and 250m for 1080P.

Which Haydon CCTV warning sign should I use?

Choose the size for the viewing distance and the V2 version if the cameras also record audio. The HAY-WSA4-V2 is an A4 sign, 210 × 297 mm, with video and audio wording, and the HAY-WSA5-V2 is the A5 version with space for the operator’s name and contact details. The HAY-WSA5 STICKER puts the A5 notice on a window instead of a wall.

Why keep a DVR in a lockable enclosure?

A lockable enclosure protects the recorder, and the footage on it, against tampering. The DVRBOX/PRO is heavy-duty powder-coated steel with a radial lock, sized 510 × 565 × 170 mm outside for Hikvision NVRs and DVRs. Where heat builds up, the fan-cooled enclosure has two fans to expel hot air and a vented front for airflow.

What is a CCTV evidence pack?

A CCTV evidence pack holds the media and paperwork for handing recorded incidents to the authorities. The HAY-5USB16GBPK has five 16GB USB drives, tamper-proof evidence bags and a security ink pen for logbook entries. The HAY-MUSBKT32GB master kit adds a 32GB master drive and 25 incident report logs, and the kit includes A4 warning signs with space for the operator’s contact details.
