Hikvision Thermal Cameras

A thermal camera builds its image from the heat that people, vehicles and objects emit, measured by a thermal sensor such as a 384×288 VOx detector, so it needs no light. It detects movement in total darkness and glare, where an optical camera may see nothing useful.

A bi-spectrum camera has two sensors in one housing: a thermal sensor for detection and an optical sensor for identification. Hikvision HeatPro models such as the DS-2TD1228T-2/QA pair a 256×192 thermal sensor with a 4MP optical sensor, so one camera does both jobs.

Not from the thermal image alone, which shows a heat outline rather than a face. That is why bi-spectrum cameras add an optical channel, such as the 4MP sensor on the HeatPro DS-2TD1228T-2/QA turret, so an alarm from the thermal channel is paired with a normal picture of the scene.

Models with temperature measurement can. The Hikvision DS-2TD2628T-3/QA bi-spectrum bullet measures from −20 to 550°C and raises temperature-exception alarms when a reading goes outside the set limits, which suits monitoring plant, stores and processes for overheating and early signs of fire in industrial sites.

Further with a longer lens, which narrows the view and reaches further: the DS-2TD2138 series spans lenses from 4.4mm to 25 mm, and thermal PTZ cameras and panoramic scanners cover long or wide perimeters from one position. Check the detection distance on the product page of the model chosen.

VOx (vanadium oxide) is the material of the thermal detector, which senses heat without needing to be cooled. Hikvision thermal network bullets such as the DS-2TD2138-7/QY use a 384×288 VOx sensor, and the HM-TD1018-1/QR thermal presence detector a 160×120 VOx sensor with radar.
