AV Install & Accessories

AV installation accessories are the hardware that houses, carries, stands and fixes an audio visual system. This collection holds 19" rack cabinets, open frames and rack parts, flight cases, mobile mixer racks and padded rack bags, sealed equipment cases, speaker stands, poles and wall brackets, microphone stands and boom arms, AV wall plates, and ceiling speaker fittings such as tile bridges, pendant enclosures and 100V line parts.

Rack cabinets and rack parts

Adastra 19" rack cabinets run from 4U to 28U, in depths such as 450mm and 600mm. The 953.528UK has a lockable 5mm tempered glass door and a vented top, and can be wall mounted or free-standing. For an open build, the 953.572UK is a self-assembly 12U frame for equipment up to 500mm deep. Finish the rack with parts such as blanking panels, support shelves, lockable drawers, the 953.552UK two-fan cooling unit and the 953.542UK castor set.

Cases for kit that travels

Citronic 19" flightcases such as the 171.436UK are 9mm plywood with heavy-duty handles and removable front and rear lids, and the range runs from 2U to 16U. The 171.726UK mobile equipment rack takes a 10U mixer on top, with wheels and a 250kg load rating. For lighter loads, Chord padded rack bags such as the 127.146UK have an inner wooden frame and rack strips front and rear. Sealed cases include the 127.252UK, rated IP66, and the 127.021UK, rated IP67.

Stands, brackets and microphone accessories

Many speaker stands take a 35mm pole. The 180.184UK aluminium stand carries 50kg, and the 129.092UK T-bar fits on top of a 35mm stand to hold large or small speakers. The 129.097UK wall brackets are rated to 50kg. Microphone accessories include boom arms such as the 180.002UK, shock mounts and pop screens.

Wall plates and ceiling speakers

AV:Link wall plates put connections such as HDMI, USB, XLR and network sockets in the wall, and brush plates such as the 123.270UK let cables pass through it. Ceiling speaker fittings include the Vanco TB65 tile bridge for suspended ceilings and the Vanco PESV-6W IP65 pendant enclosure for open ceilings. Line parts include the Bose 40191 transformer for 100V systems.

What size rack cabinet do I need?

Add up the rack units (U) of the equipment, allow spare space, then check its depth. Adastra 19" cabinets such as the 953.504UK (4U) and 953.628UK (28U) come in depths such as 450mm and 600mm. For shallow kit, the 953.582UK wall cabinet takes a mounting depth of up to 280mm, which suits patch panels, wireless microphone receivers, mixers and smaller amplifiers.

Should I use a flightcase or a padded rack bag?

Use a flightcase for heavy or frequently transported kit and a rack bag when weight matters more. The Citronic 171.436UK flightcase is 9mm plywood with protective corner pieces and removable lids. A Chord bag such as the 127.146UK is padded, with an inner wooden frame, rack strips front and rear, a shoulder strap and flaps for access and ventilation.

How well do the sealed equipment cases keep water out?

The 127.252UK case is rated IP66 and the 127.021UK case IP67. The 127.252UK is sealed with an integral gasket and 2 lever clamps, with a pressure equalisation valve and segmented foam. The 127.021UK has a gasket sealed lid, 4mm thick polypropylene, a removable tray and through-holes for padlocks, and is designed for professional tools and repair equipment.

How do I choose a speaker stand or wall bracket?

Check the load rating against the speaker and the mount it has. The Citronic 180.184UK stand adjusts from 1.00m to 1.92m and takes 50kg on a 35mm pole that suits most cabinets fitted with a tophat. The QTX 129.097UK wall brackets are a pair for 35mm pole-mount speakers, rated to 50kg, with tilt adjustment from 65° to 90°.

What does a tile bridge do for a ceiling speaker?

A tile bridge spreads the weight of a ceiling speaker so the tile does not sag. The Axis 02555-001 is a tile bridge for AXIS C12 network ceiling speakers in soft ceilings, sold in packs of two. The Vanco TB65 gives load bearing support for Beale Street speakers in 2' x 2' and 2' x 4' suspended ceilings.

How do I keep equipment in a rack cabinet cool?

Move air through the cabinet and let heat escape. The Adastra 953.552UK is a 1U, two-fan cooling unit that improves airflow from above equipment that generates heat. Cabinets such as the 953.528UK have a vented top panel, and vented or perforated blanking panels such as the 853.024UK and 853.061UK fill empty spaces while letting air through.
