Track Lighting

Track lighting is a ceiling-mounted rail that carries power along its length, so spotlights can be clipped on, moved and re-aimed without new wiring. This range is Knightsbridge 230V 10A single-circuit track in 1, 2 and 3 metre lengths, in satin nickel, black and white, with GU10 and G9 track spotlights, pendant adaptors, power feeds, connectors, end caps and a suspension kit.

Choosing Track Lighting

Plan the run of track first, then how it is fed and joined, then the spotlights that sit on it.

Track lengths

Knightsbridge single-circuit track is aluminium, rated 230V 10A and IP20, in 1 metre, 2 metre and 3 metre lengths, in satin nickel, black and white. Connectors and power feeds come in the same three finishes, the spotlights in brushed chrome, black and white, and dead end caps in black and satin nickel.

Feeds and joins

A power feed brings the supply into the end of the track, and in-line connectors join straight lengths. L right-angle, T and X connectors turn corners or branch the run, flexible connectors follow an angle, and dead end caps close the far end. The TRKSUS kit hangs the track on 3m adjustable cables rated to 25kg.

Spotlights and pendants

GU10 track spotlights take up to 50W, with the TRKSP8ABC and TRKSP8ABK rated 40W max, and the TRKSP6W takes a G9 lamp up to 40W. Most of the spotlights rotate through 350° and tilt through 80°. Track adaptors rated to 100W carry a pendant from the track.

Dimming

The GU10 and G9 track spotlights are dimmable with a suitable dimmer and dimmable lamps, which lets one circuit light a display brightly by day and softly by evening.

What lengths does track lighting come in?

Knightsbridge single-circuit track comes in 1 metre, 2 metre and 3 metre lengths, in satin nickel, black and white. Longer runs are made by joining lengths with in-line connectors, and L, T and X connectors let the track turn corners or branch across a ceiling.

What bulbs do track spotlights take?

A GU10 lamp on most Knightsbridge track spotlights, up to 50W, with the TRKSP8ABC and TRKSP8ABK rated 40W max; the TRKSP6W takes a G9 lamp up to 40W. Lamps are bought separately, so use dimmable lamps if the spotlights will run on a dimmer circuit.

Can track lighting be dimmed?

Yes. The Knightsbridge GU10 and G9 track spotlights are dimmable, so the track circuit can be controlled from a dimmer switch when dimmable lamps are fitted. Check that the total lamp load on the circuit sits inside the dimmer's rating.

How is track lighting powered?

A power feed connects the mains supply to the end of the track, such as the Knightsbridge TRKPF1W in white. The track itself is rated 230V 10A. Some T and X connectors also take a central power feed, so the supply can enter the middle of a run.

Can I hang a pendant from a lighting track?

Yes, with a track adaptor. The Knightsbridge TRKAD1 adaptors in black, satin nickel and white are rated to a maximum load of 100W, and the title of the black version states it is for pendant applications on the Knightsbridge track system.

Can track lighting be suspended from a high ceiling?

Yes. The Knightsbridge TRKSUS single-circuit track suspension kit hangs the track on 3m of adjustable stainless steel cable with a 25kg capacity, so it can sit at a working height below a high or sloping ceiling. Suspended runs use the same feeds, connectors and spotlights as surface-mounted track.

Can track lighting go round corners?

Yes. L right-angle connectors turn a corner, T connectors join three lengths and X connectors form a cross junction, while flexible connectors follow an angle between two lengths. Knightsbridge makes these in satin nickel, black and white to match the track.

How far do track spotlights rotate and tilt?

Most Knightsbridge GU10 and G9 track spotlights rotate through 350° and tilt through 80°, so a head can be aimed at a display without moving it along the track. The GU10 spotlights take lamps up to 50W, the TRKSP8ABC and TRKSP8ABK up to 40W, and the G9 TRKSP6W up to 40W.
