Covers

The STI-6514, STI-6520-S and STI-7504 are tough covers designed to protect card readers, access control keypads and similar devices from abuse, accidental damage and the external elements, moulded from polycarbonate that is UV-stabilised against discolouration. The STI-6520-S is enclosed, with a spring loaded hinge, mounting hardware and a gasket. The STI-6514 has an open flap that a stainless steel torsion spring keeps closed, and the STI-7504 is moulded from thick clear polycarbonate. The STI-6521-C Stopper cover is hinged and protects digital keypads, push buttons and electrical outlets, and comes with installation screws and a gasket.

Shields and weather hoods

The Hikvision DS-KAB344-S1 is a protective shield made of SGCC for the DS-K1T344 Series face recognition terminal, measuring 178.08 mm × 85 mm × 42.06 mm. The Hikvision DS-KAB5671-S is a protective shield for the DS-K5671 face recognition terminal. The Nedap 9218327 weather hood is designed to shield a reader against sun and harsh weather, and the Nedap 9218335 is a powder coated aluminium hood for the uPASS Target reader that prevents overheating in sunny climates.

Glass mounting and fibre links

The HID 5455AGM00 is an optional glass mount kit for ProxPro and ProxPro II readers. The Comnet FDW1000M/C, FDW1000M/R, FDW1000S/C and FDW1000S/R data extenders provide optical connectivity between one card reader and its door or gate locking hardware and a Wiegand, MagStripe or F/2F-based control panel, in a rugged aluminium housing for shelf or surface mounting.

Enrolment, vehicles and tools

The Acre V54504-F103-A200 is the ER10-X USB reader for reading card numbers into systems such as ACT Enterprise, ACT365, OMNIS and SPC, with a buzzer and a multicolour LED for indication. The Nedap 9948554 is a vehicle-mounted booster that combines smartcard ID with vehicle ID for long-range identification with TRANSIT readers, and it fixes to the windscreen with attached suction pads. The Comelit PAC 1950 is a screwdriver for vandal resistant screws.

How can a keypad or card reader be protected from abuse and the weather?

Fit a protective cover over it. The STI-6520-S, STI-6514 and STI-7504 are designed to protect card readers, access control keypads and similar devices from abuse, accidental damage and the external elements, and they are moulded from UV-stabilised polycarbonate. Choose the STI-6520-S for an enclosed cover with a spring loaded hinge and gasket, or the STI-6514 for an open flap held closed by a stainless steel torsion spring.

What is a vandal resistant screwdriver for?

It is the screwdriver made for the vandal resistant screws on a vandal reader, used when fitting or opening the reader. The Comelit PAC 1950 is a vandal resistant screwdriver from the GS3 range, designed for LF vandal readers. Where the reader itself needs a guard against vandalism and accidental damage, the STI-7504 security cover is moulded from thick clear polycarbonate.

What does a reader weather hood do?

A reader weather hood shields an outdoor reader from direct sunlight, rain and temperature extremes, which also helps prevent overheating in sunny climates. The Nedap 9218335 is a powder coated aluminium hood for the uPASS Target reader, with durable outdoor-grade construction. The Nedap 9218327 is a weather hood accessory designed to shield its reader against sun and harsh weather.

How can a card reader reach a distant control panel over fibre?

Use a pair of fibre data extenders, one at the reader and one at the panel, to carry the reader and door signals over optical fibre. A pair of Comnet FDW1000 extenders such as the FDW1000M/C supports a single locking gate or door and its reader over two multimode or singlemode optical fibres, linked to any Wiegand, MagStripe or F/2F-based control panel. Reader formats are selected by DIP-switch setting.

How does a USB enrolment reader pass card numbers to the PC?

It sends the card number to the PC as keyboard data, so the number appears in the software as if it had been typed. When a 125kHz, MIFARE Classic or MIFARE DESFire card or tag is presented to the Acre V54504-F103-A200 (ER10-X), the card data is transferred to the PC in the form of keyboard data. The reader connects via USB 2.0 and automatically loads its driver for Windows, Mac OS X or Linux.
