Smoke Alarm Accessories

Smoke alarm accessories add functions to a smoke alarm system, such as relays, wireless links and remote test switches, rather than detecting smoke themselves. This page has an ESP Espire input module, relay bases including an input relay base, RF modules, remote control switches, a masking plate and multi tools, an Aico SmartLINK module and gateway, and Ajax SmartBracket mounting panels for FireProtect detectors.

Choosing Smoke Alarm Accessories

Start from the alarm range already fitted, and check which alarms an accessory works with before you choose it.

Connecting other equipment to Espire alarms

The ES1MODRF 10 year input module and the mains powered ES1MODV input relay base let third-party devices trigger the alarm function of Espire alarms. Working the other way, the ES1RB relay base switches third-party devices when an alarm activates; it is mains powered, has multiple knockout entries and lets an Espire alarm be mounted on top. The ES1RBRF is a relay base powered by a mains supply with a backup battery and an RF-Link module.

Radio modules and remote switches

The ES1RF is an RF-Link module for mains powered Espire alarms, and the ES1RF2 suits lithium battery powered Espire alarms, with a built-in battery to reduce the load on the alarm. The ES1REM is a battery powered RF remote control switch for RF-Link enabled alarms. The mains powered ES1REMV has three switches, for testing the alarms, hush and locate, and fits a standard UK 1 gang mount box.

Aico SmartLINK

The Aico Ei3000MRF plugs into the slot on an Aico 3000 Series alarm, takes its power from the alarm head and interconnects up to 12 RF devices on an 868MHz mesh. The Ei1000G gateway sends alarm events to an online portal over GSM; it runs on 230V AC mains with a rechargeable battery backup and works with SmartLINK and RadioLINK+ alarms, not the original RadioLINK.

Mounting and servicing

The ES1MP masking plate covers existing mounting holes, and the ES1MTB and ES1MTW multi tools, two to a pack in black or white, combine a pairing tool with an Anti-Tamper Lock-In Base release tool. For Ajax, the SmartBracket 9549.10.WH has a tamper switch and gives WAGO terminal access so an AC FireProtect can be wired while mounted.

Frequently asked questions

How can another device set off Espire alarms?

Fit an input module or an input relay base, which lets a third-party device trigger the alarm function of the connected alarms. The Espire ES1MODRF 10 year input module and the mains powered ES1MODV input relay base both enable 3rd party devices to trigger the alarm function of Espire alarms. To switch other equipment when an alarm activates, the ES1RB relay base is used instead.

What smoke alarm accessories can I add to an existing system?

You can add relay bases, remote control switches, RF modules and mounting panels. The Espire ES1RB relay base switches third-party devices when an alarm activates, and the mains powered ES1REMV has switches for testing the alarms, hush and locate. For Aico 3000 Series alarms, the Ei3000MRF SmartLINK module adds wireless interconnection. The Ajax 9548.10.BL is a replacement mounting panel for FireProtect detectors.

Which alarms take an Aico SmartLINK module?

An Aico SmartLINK module is made for Aico 3000 Series alarms, adding wireless interconnection to them. The Aico Ei3000MRF works exclusively with the 3000 Series and is powered directly from the alarm head, so it needs no batteries. The Ei3000MRF links up to 12 RF devices over a proprietary 868MHz mesh, with a range of about 30m in standard residential buildings.

Which Aico gateway events can be monitored?

An Aico gateway reports alarm activity from connected RF alarms, such as fire, carbon monoxide detection or mains failure, to an online portal over the GSM network. The Aico Ei1000G monitors up to 12 RF devices, connects with its own roaming SIM card and works with SmartLINK and RadioLINK+ alarms, but not with original RadioLINK systems.

Which FireProtect SmartBracket do I need?

Use a SmartBracket mounting panel made for your FireProtect detector variant and colour, and confirm the exact variant before ordering. The Ajax 9548.10.BL is a black mounting panel for FireProtect, FireProtect Plus and FireProtect 2 variants that lets a detector be installed and aligned without opening its housing. The white 9549.10.WH gives WAGO terminal access so an AC FireProtect can be wired while mounted.
