What this module does

Home smoke alarms normally react only to what they sense themselves. This Aico module gives something outside the alarm system a way to set them off.

It does not detect fire or smoke itself. It passes on a signal when the outside device operates.

How it works

• RadioLINK: Aico's name for the radio link between its wireless devices, so no interconnect cable runs between them.
• House code: a house code is the shared identity that keeps one home's alarms from reacting to a neighbour's. Follow the alarm instructions to set it.
• Amber light: plan to replace the unit when this light shows.

Where to use it

It suits buildings where a cable to the alarms would be awkward, because the alarm link is by radio. A sprinkler system is one example.

Confirm how the sprinkler and alarm systems should work together with whoever designed them.

What the figures mean in practice

• Free air: this means open space with nothing in the way. Treat the range as an upper figure, then test in the building.
• Sealed in cell: the cell is not something you change, so the 10 year figure is also a guide to when the unit is due for replacement.

Installing it

• Input wiring: no cable is needed for power or the alarm link. The outside device still has to connect to the module, so follow the instructions supplied with the unit.
• Testing: operate the outside device, then walk the building and confirm every alarm sounds.

Planning your system

It needs alarms already on RadioLINK, such as wireless smoke alarms from the same maker. Check each model's own details.

Compare it with the hard wired version if your alarms are joined by a cable. Radio and cable systems do not automatically talk to each other.
