Outdoor and weatherproof sockets bring mains power outside, either as a fixed power point or as temporary power on a lead. This collection holds Mercury fixed sockets with IP55 rated covers, the 429.917UK 1 gang, the 429.918UK 2 gang and the 429.919UK switch and socket, plus IP54 portable power: the 429.868UK rewireable socket, the 429.867UK socket on a 5m extension cable and the 429.880UK 2 gang garden extension reel.

Fixed weatherproof sockets

The 429.917UK 1 gang socket, the 429.918UK 2 gang socket and the 429.919UK switch and socket are permanent power points with IP55 rated transparent PVC covers, and the 429.918UK and 429.919UK have two separate covers. They are for use outdoors in sheltered locations, and Mercury supplies each with 2 x M20 cable glands. The 429.917UK housing has 5 M20 cable gland knockouts; the 429.918UK and 429.919UK housings have 9.

Portable outdoor power

For temporary power, the 429.868UK is a 13A rewireable 1 gang socket with an IP54 rated cover, to be supplied via a 13A plug on 1.25mm² to 1.5mm² 3 core cable. The 429.867UK puts an enclosed IP54 socket on a 5m orange extension cable with an H-frame cable tidy for storage. The 429.880UK reel has 2 splashproof IP54 sockets on 20m of high visibility orange cable, with a 13A fused mains plug and a thermal cut-out to prevent overloading.

Protection ratings

The 429.917UK, 429.918UK and 429.919UK carry the higher IP55 rating. The portable 429.867UK, 429.868UK and 429.880UK are IP54 rated, and the 429.880UK sockets are splashproof. Check how much rain and spray a position gets before you fit a socket there.
