HDMI Cables & Adapters

HDMI carries digital video and audio in one lead between a source, such as a set-top box, console or laptop, and a TV, projector or monitor. This range covers HDMI cables from Vanco, AV:Link, AVARRO, Haydon and Knightsbridge, in lengths from 0.3m to 30.48m, including 4K leads and optical HDMI leads up to 30m, plus HDMI switches, splitters, matrices, a multi-viewer, SCART converters, USB-C hubs, an HDMI tester and ESP wire-free HDMI extenders.

Choosing HDMI Cables & Adapters

Choose an HDMI product by what it has to do: connect one device to one screen, choose between several sources, or send one source to several screens.

Cables

Standard leads connect a source to a screen directly, and run from the 0.3m Vanco PROHD01 to the 30.48m Vanco RDM100. AV:Link 4K leads such as the 112.225UK carry UHD 60Hz on solid copper. For long runs, the Vanco VMM20013 optical HDMI cable runs to 30m.

Switches, splitters and matrices

A switch selects one of several sources for one screen, such as the AV:Link 128.820UK mini 3x1 with IR remote. A splitter sends one source to several screens, such as the USB-powered 128.825UK 1x2. The 128.850UK 4K HDMI Matrix 4x4 routes 4 sources to 4 screens at 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz.

Extending without cable

ESP HDMIXWF wire-free extenders send 1080p HDMI up to 15m or 50m without a cable, useful where a lead cannot be run between rooms.

Converters and hubs

AV:Link converters link older equipment: the 122.416UK converts SCART to HDMI at 720p/1080p, and the 122.417UK converts HDMI to SCART. USB Type-C hubs such as the 500.107UK add an HDMI output to a laptop, and the 128.855UK multi-viewer shows 4 inputs on one screen.

What is the difference between an HDMI switch and an HDMI splitter?

A switch connects several sources to one screen and lets you choose which to show, such as the AV:Link 128.820UK 3x1. A splitter sends one source to several screens at once, such as the AV:Link 128.825UK 1x2. A matrix, such as the 128.850UK 4x4, does both.

What HDMI cable do I need for 4K?

Choose a lead rated for 4K, such as the AV:Link 112.225UK, which carries UHD 60Hz on solid copper, or the AV:Link 112.245UK 5m lead with an aluminium head-shell. For runs of 20m or more, an optical HDMI cable such as the Vanco VMM20013 keeps the signal intact.

How far can an HDMI cable run?

Standard copper HDMI leads suit short runs between devices in one room. For longer distances, optical HDMI cables such as the 30m Vanco VMM20013 carry the signal further, and ESP wire-free extenders send 1080p up to 50m without a cable.

Can I connect an old SCART device to an HDMI TV?

Yes, with a converter. The AV:Link 122.416UK is a USB-powered SCART to HDMI converter with 720p or 1080p output, and the 122.417UK converts the other way, HDMI to SCART at 1080p @ 60Hz with PAL/NTSC output, for connecting a new source to an older TV.

What is an HDMI matrix?

An HDMI matrix routes any of several sources to any of several screens independently. The AV:Link 128.850UK 4K HDMI Matrix 4x4 supports 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz, with remote control, EDID switching and a metal chassis, for bars, meeting rooms and multi-screen homes.

How can I send HDMI to another room without a cable?

Use a wire-free HDMI extender. ESP HDMIXWF extenders transmit 1080p HDMI without a cable, the HDMIXWF15D-CL dongle up to 15m and the HDMIXWF50-CL and HDMIXWF50D-CL up to 50m, where running a lead through walls or floors between rooms is not practical.

Is there an HDMI cable for 8K?

Yes. The Knightsbridge AVUHD8K2 is a 2m Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, HDMI 2.1 certified for 8K @ 60Hz. AV:Link 8K splitters such as the 128.862UK 1x4 support 7680x4320 @ 60Hz at 40Gbps, for sending an 8K source to several screens.

How can I show four sources on one screen?

With a multi-viewer. The AV:Link 128.855UK 4K HDMI Multi-Viewer takes 4 inputs and shows them together on 1 output at 3840 x 2160 @ 30Hz, with an IR remote and a brushed metal finish. For a single source on several screens instead, use an HDMI splitter such as the 1x4 128.846UK.

Can I connect a laptop's USB-C port to an HDMI screen?

Yes, with a USB-C hub that has an HDMI port. The AV:Link 500.106UK is a 3 port slim USB 3.0 Type-C hub with HDMI at 4K@30Hz, USB-A and USB-C PD, and the 500.107UK is a 7 port USB3.2 Type-C multi-hub with HDMI and 100W PD.
