Perimeter Detection Systems

Perimeter detection systems detect intrusion along a site boundary, such as climbing, crossing or approaching a fence line, and can trigger alarms or point cameras at the zone crossed. Security radar

The Dahua DH-PFR4K-D300 adopts a 24 GHZ radar chip for 24/7 all-weather high-accuracy detection, and the DH-PFR4K-D450 detects in the range of 450 m/90°. The DH-PFR4K-D300 supports radar-PTZ smart tracking and is compatible with common Dahua speed domes, and multiple PTZ cameras can be linked to one radar.

Laser detection

The GJD GJD515 uses time of flight (ToF) analytics to ascertain where the beam was crossed, with no reflector required. A triggered zone on the GJD515 can trigger specific events via IP, such as sending a PTZ camera to the preset relating to the triggered zone. The GJD515 is PoE powered and includes a visible targeting laser and telescopic sight mount for setup. The Optex LAC1 Laser Area Checker is an alignment tool for the REDWALL RLS-3060 and RLS-3060SH laser scan detectors.

Fibre-optic sensing

The Hikvision DS-QFV0102W is a wall mounted distributed vibration fibre-optic sensing server with dual channel DAS vibration fibre and a single-channel detection distance up to 1 km. The DS-QFV0102W positions multiple vibration points with a positioning accuracy of ± 5 m and has an alarm response time of ≤ 2 s. The Optex SC3-C is a 375m fibre sensor cable in a slim, flexible UV-resistant polyethylene conduit.

Outdoor PIR sensors

On the Optex WXI-AM, the left and right alarm detection areas can be set independently at 2.5m, 3.5m, 6m, 8.5m and 12m. The Optex WXS-AM is an outdoor PIR with anti-masking and a selectable low (0.8m-1.2m) or high (2m) mount. The Luminite LGWP12VC is a PIR motion detector, IP66 weather rated and Grade 2 compliant, with wireless transmission up to 1km.

What stops a perimeter alarm system giving false alarms?

Intelligent algorithms, alarm zones that can be set to ignore an area and double layered detection, depending on the detector. The Dahua DH-PFR4K-D300 radar achieves ultra-low false alarms with radar detection and intelligent algorithms. The GJD GJD515 laser detector has a near zero false alarm rate, and a zone can ignore an area such as a roadway where traffic needs to be ignored. On the Optex WXI-AM, double layered detection ignores animals while detecting people.

What is a perimeter intrusion detection system?

It is a system that detects intrusion along a boundary, such as a fence line. The GJD GJD515 laser detector forms a virtual fence able to trigger alarm and camera recording, for fence line intrusion detection, port entrances and critical infrastructure applications. The Hikvision DS-QFV0102W monitors intrusion such as climbing, crossing and excavation, and its alarm triggers are intrusion alarm, fibre cut alarm and tampering alarm.

What types of perimeter detector are there?

How far can a security radar detect?

Range depends on the model and is expressed as a distance and a coverage angle, for example 300 m over 90°. The Dahua DH-PFR4K-D300 detects in the range of 300 m/90° and the DH-PFR4K-D450 in the range of 450 m/90°, both 24/7 in all weather with target filtering. Multiple PTZ cameras can be linked to one DH-PFR4K-D300 for wide-range arming and detail tracking.

What field of view does an external PIR detector have?

It varies by model; a 180° external PIR detector lets one sensor cover a wide area such as a front garden, courtyard or patio. The Optex WXI-AM has a 180° field of view with left and right detection areas set independently at up to 12m. The WXS-AM is a 180 degree outdoor PIR with anti-masking and 4 PIR for double layered detection with pet tolerance.
