CCTV Cables & Connectors
CCTV cables and connectors join cameras to recorders and to power. This range covers RG59 coax and RG59 shotgun cable with two power cores on 100 m reels, ESP made-up power-and-video and Cat5e data leads, BNC plugs in twist-on and crimp types, couplers, T-pieces and strain relief boots, and video baluns that carry HD analogue video over a twisted pair. It also has adapter cables for IP and mobile cameras, DC plugs and a ground loop isolator.

Choosing CCTV Cables & Connectors
Work out whether the cameras are analogue HD on coax (HD-TVI, HD-CVI, AHD or CVBS) or IP on network cable, then plan the run and how power reaches each camera.
Coax and shotgun cable
RG59 is 75Ω coax for analogue video. Shotgun cable adds power cores to the coax so one pull carries video and camera power: the SFX/59+2C-0.5-PVC-WHT-100 has two 0.5 mm² bare copper cores, and the Rhino Guard reel is a black shotgun cable made for TVI.
Made-up leads
ESP CAB leads are pre-made power and BNC video cables for analogue CCTV in 10m, 20m, 40m and 80m lengths, and the ESP CABIP leads are pre-terminated Cat5e data cables. Every one of these ESP leads has an external grade polyethylene jacket. For short recorder-to-monitor links there are 1m and 2m Haydon RG59 BNC patch leads.
BNC plugs and couplers
Twist-on plugs such as the FS-BNCTWIST terminate RG59 on site with no crimp tool, and a HAY-BNCBOOT rubber boot gives the joint strain relief. Couplers such as the FS-BNCF feed-through and the ESP CAB-BNC join two BNC male plugs, the FS-BNCR turns a connection through 90° in tight spaces, and a BNC T-piece splits one feed into two.
Baluns
The Folk Safe FS-HDP4110P is a passive pigtail balun rated up to 4K (8MP) that can also carry PoC camera power over the pair, and the Haydon HAY-HDPVB02 sends power up to 100m from a 12V DC or 24V AC supply.

Frequently asked questions
Should I use plain RG59 coax or shotgun cable?
Use shotgun cable when camera power runs from the recorder end, because it carries two power cores alongside the RG59 in one cable. The SFX shotgun reels have two 0.5 mm² bare copper cores with red and black insulation, so one pull feeds video and power. Plain RG59, such as the SFX white coax reel, suits cameras powered at their own position.
Should I use twist-on or crimp BNC connectors?
Use twist-on plugs for quick field terminations and repairs, and crimp plugs when you terminate a lot of cable with a crimp tool. Twist-on plugs such as the FS-BNCTWIST and HAY-BNCTWIST fit RG59 coax without crimping. The Haydon BNCC100 is a pack of 100 three-piece crimp plugs for RG59, with a separate body, centre contact and ferrule. A HAY-BNCBOOT then relieves strain at the plug.
What does a CCTV video balun do?
A video balun lets an analogue HD camera run over twisted-pair network cable instead of coax. The Haydon HAY-HDVB01POC-PT sends power and video over one twisted pair to HD-TVI, HD-CVI, AHD and CVBS cameras, and the FS-HD4301VP has a BNC pigtail on the camera side and an RJ45 jack on the cable side. Check the distance for your resolution: the HAY-HDPVB02 lists 150m for HD-TVI at 4K/8MP.
How do I stop a CCTV picture rolling or tearing on a coax run?
Fit a ground loop isolator when the fault comes from a ground loop between camera and recorder. The Haydon HAY-HDGLIUTC is passive, needs no power and fits inline at the DVR end of the camera cable, BNC male on one side and female on the other. The HAY-HDGLIUTC keeps insertion loss at or below 0.5 dB and is built to preserve HD signals as high as 4K/8MP. Also check the BNC plugs for a loose termination.
Which cables here suit IP cameras?
For IP cameras, use the ESP CABIP data leads, pre-terminated Cat5e twisted 4-pair cable in 10m, 20m, 40m and 80m lengths with an external grade polyethylene jacket. The ESP CABIPCOUP joins two RJ45 plugs to extend a run. For a camera with an M12 D-coded Ethernet port, the Hikvision AE-MC1043-0.2 converts an RJ45 socket to an M12 4-pin plug on a 0.2 m lead.
How do I connect camera power without soldering?
Use screw-terminal DC plugs such as the Folk Safe FS-DCMC, a pack of 10 male 5.5×2.1mm barrel plugs for low-voltage camera power feeds. Fix the wires under the screws and confirm polarity before connecting the camera; the plugs are not suitable for mains voltages. For a video feed into an RCA input, the Haydon HAY-RCA-TERM gives the same solderless screw-terminal connection.
