Choosing Antique & Vintage Finish Fixtures

Choose the plate style first, because Knightsbridge matches the finish within a range, then pick the switch and socket types the room needs.

Square edge, screwless and grid

Square edge plates such as the CS3AB and CS4AB have a metal plate with a built-in gasket, and many are made from 430 stainless steel. Screwless plates such as the SF3000AB have a low profile, and screwless sockets such as the SFR7000AB hide the socket insert once a plug is in. Grid modules such as the GDM005AB clip in from the front and fit the GDCS8AB 8G grid faceplate, which is finished to coordinate with the square edge antique brass range.

Lighting control

There are 10AX 2-way switches from 1G to 6G, such as the SF2000AB and CS42AB, intermediate switches such as the CS12AB for a light switched from three places, and toggle versions such as the CSTOG3AB and SF2TOGAB. The intelligent dimmers, such as the SF2191AB 1G and CS2194AB 4G, handle 10-200W (5-150W LED), switch between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes and are for dimmable lamps.

Sockets and appliances

Sockets include switched, unswitched, lockable and night light versions, and USB models such as the SFR9919AB (18W) and SFR9945AB (45W over USB-C). For kitchens and fixed appliances there are 45A cooker switches such as the SF81MNAB, which need a 47mm box, 20A double pole switches such as the CS834NAB, the CS8342AB 20A flex outlet plate and the SF6300NAB 13A switched fused spur.

Which antique brass light switches are there?

There are 10AX 2-way switches from 1G to 6G, such as the SF2000AB and CS42AB, intermediate switches such as the CS12AB and SF1200AB for a light switched from three places, and toggle switches such as the CSTOG4AB and SF3TOGAB. Most need a minimum mounting box depth of 16mm, and the CS1DPAB is a 10AX double pole switch.

Can I fit a dimmer in antique brass?

Yes, the intelligent dimmers come in 1G, 3G and 4G versions, such as the SF2191AB, CS2193AB and CS2194AB, rated 10-200W or 5-150W for LED lamps. Their front knob switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes, and they have overload and overheat protection and are for dimmable lamps. For your own dimmer module, the CS1DIMAB and SF1DIMAB are unpopulated dimmer plates with matching caps.

Are there antique brass sockets with USB charging?

Yes, the CS9919AB and SFR9919AB are 13A switched sockets with USB-A and USB-C ports giving up to 18W. The CS9945AB and SFR9945AB are double pole twin sockets giving up to 45W over USB-C, which the CS9945AB listing says is enough for tablets and laptops. The SFR9940AB gives 5V DC 4.0A shared between its USB ports.

Is there an antique brass cooker switch?

Yes, there are 45A double pole switches with neon indicators in 1G and 2G sizes, such as the SF81MNAB and CS82MNAB, and the SFR83MNAB combines a 45A switch with a 13A switched socket. These need a minimum mounting box depth of 47mm. For water heaters and other fixed appliances, 20A double pole switches such as the CS834NAB need a 25mm box.

Is there an antique brass shaver socket for a bathroom?

Yes, the CS89AB and SF8900AB are 115/230V dual voltage shaver sockets, rated 20VA and IP41 for splash protection and certified to EN 61558. The CS89AB and SF8900AB both need a minimum mounting box depth of 47mm; the CS89AB has a square edge plate and the SF8900AB a screwless low profile design.

Can I build a custom grid switch plate in antique brass?

Yes, the GDCS8AB is an 8G square edge grid faceplate for the Knightsbridge Grid System, used with two GDF002F frames sold separately. Antique brass grid modules clip into the frames from the front, including 20AX 2-way, intermediate, retractive and key switch modules, the GDM003AB double pole module with LED indicator and the GDM020AB 10A fan isolator module.
