Adastra ceiling speakers fit flush into a ceiling for background music and announcements. Choosing Adastra Ceiling Speakers

First decide between single speakers for an amplifier you already have and a package that brings its own amplifier, then match the line type and driver size to the room.

Line-transformer models

The KV-T Series, such as the 952.281UK (6.5", 30W), has three 100V volume tappings on a 4-core cable and an 8 ohm option that bypasses the transformer. The 952.178UK Metal Quick Fit is a black 135mm speaker with 1.5W, 3W and 6W tappings, and the 952.205UK fire dome speaker is EN54-24 certified, with four tappings from 0.75W to 6W and fire-resistant cable rated to 95°C.

Two-way and stereo models

The KV Series 125.105UK, 125.106UK and 125.108UK are two-way ABS speakers with glass-aramid drivers, a coaxial dome tweeter and a magnetic frameless grille, rated 40W, 60W and 80W. SL Series slimline speakers are supplied in pairs, such as the 3" 952.545UK and the 6.5" 952.548UK, and the 952.537UK plays left and right stereo channels from a single ceiling point.

Packages with an amplifier

The Smart Pack Small 300.106UK pairs a DM25 100V mixer amplifier with 4 flush-mounted speakers, and the Smart Pack Medium 300.107UK a DM40 with 8. Compact 100V packages such as the 300.011UK use UM series amplifiers with USB, Bluetooth and an FM tuner. Add-on packages such as the 300.077UK run extra mini speakers from a US series slave amplifier fed by the 100V line. Smart Pack Multiroom sets, such as the 300.103UK, stream over WiFi under the control of an Android or iOS app.

How far apart should ceiling speakers be?

Adastra gives an example for its commercial packages: a 3m ceiling height needs approximately 5m spacing between speakers, so 4 speakers could serve a 10 x 10m square room. For higher ceilings the spacing can be widened, and Adastra notes that its 8" speaker models are better equipped to carry sound to a listener at a distance.

Can I add more speakers to an Adastra 100V system?

Yes, with an add-on package or by using lower tappings. Adastra add-on packages such as the 300.078UK connect a US series slave amplifier to the last speaker on the 100V line and power extra mini speakers from it. More speakers can also run from one amplifier at lower tappings, provided the total speaker watts stay below 90% of its maximum output.

Can Adastra ceiling speakers stream music over WiFi?

Yes, the Smart Pack Multiroom systems can. They pair a stereo amplifier with WiFi streaming and Bluetooth with 6.5" slimline ceiling speakers, controlled from an app on an Android or iOS phone. The 300.102UK has 2 speakers for smaller rooms, and the 300.114UK and 300.115UK extend the system to 4 and 6 zones for larger rooms, bars and cafes.

Which Adastra package suits a low ceiling?

The Compact 100V packages, which Adastra designs for background music and announcements in areas with low ceilings and minimal background noise, such as an office, retail outlet, workshop or café with a suspended false ceiling. The 300.010UK, 300.011UK and 300.012UK use 5.25" metal ceiling speakers with UM series amplifiers that can be rack mounted or wall mounted.

Is there an Adastra ceiling speaker package for a bathroom?

Yes, the 300.156UK Bluetooth waterproof package is made for bathrooms, wet rooms and other humid areas. Its OD-series speakers are rated IP35, and the IWA amplifier has a Bluetooth receiver, Aux and optical inputs and an internal power supply for a direct mains connection. For washrooms and waiting rooms, the 300.150UK uses moisture-resistant SL3 and SL4 speakers.
