Standard Bulbs

Standard bulbs are the everyday lamps for pendants, table lamps, chandeliers and wall sconces. This page has Energizer LED filament candle and GLS bulbs in bayonet B22 and screw E27 and E14 caps, in dimmable and non-dimmable versions from 4W to 8W. Choosing Standard Bulbs

Choose a standard bulb by its cap first, then by brightness, dimming and the shape of the lamp.

Caps and shapes

Energizer LED filament candles come with B22 (BC) bayonet, E14 (SES) and E27 (ES) screw caps, and the GLS bulbs with B22 and E27. Candles suit chandeliers, wall sconces and bedside lamps; the rounder GLS shape is the everyday bulb for pendants, table lamps and floor lamps.

Brightness and wattage

LED filament bulbs keep the look of a clear incandescent lamp at a fraction of the power. The 4W S12870 candle gives 470lm, about a 40W incandescent; the 7W S12852 GLS gives 806lm, about 60W; and the 8W S12858 GLS gives 1060lm, about 75W.

Dimming and colour

Dimmable models such as the S12855 and S12856 candles and the S12851 and S12852 GLS need an LED-compatible dimmer, while the S12857 and S12858 GLS and the S12869 and S12870 candles are non-dimmable. The Energizer bulbs here are 2700K warm white.

Stage and effect lamps

QTX supplies three specialist lamps: the 159.447UK PAR36 bulb (30W, 6.4V, screw fitting) for PAR cans, the 160.003UK R80 blue reflector (60W, E27) for light sequencers and sound-to-light units, and the 160.011UK 75W black light bulb (E27) for stage and display effects.

What is an E27 GLS bulb?

An E27 GLS bulb is the classic rounded household bulb fitted with a large Edison screw cap, often marked ES, that twists into the lampholder. Check the old bulb or the fitting before replacing it, as a bayonet lampholder needs a B22 cap instead. LED filament versions keep the clear glass look of the old incandescent lamp. The range here includes LED filament GLS bulbs with large screw caps.

What is a GLS bulb?

A GLS bulb is the familiar rounded light bulb shape used in many table lamps, floor lamps and ceiling pendants; GLS stands for General Lighting Service. Older GLS bulbs used a glowing tungsten filament, while LED versions keep the shape and use far less power. Look at the cap, the lumen output and the colour temperature when choosing one. The range here includes dimmable and non-dimmable LED GLS bulbs.
