C-TEC QT602RS addressable nurse call point, front view

C-TEC Quantec QT602RS Addressable Nurse Call Point with Infrared Receiver, Sounder and Remote Socket

Overview

A nurse call point lets a resident or patient call staff from their room. This one belongs to C-TEC's Quantec addressable system, so each call point reports its own identity and the type of call to the system.

It combines a call point with an infrared receiver, a call follower sounder and a remote jack socket, so one unit covers several ways of calling.

How it works

  • Call and reset: pressing Call raises a call; staff attending press Reset to clear it, and the red/green confidence light shows the state.
  • Infrared: the onboard receiver picks up calls from compatible Quantec infrared transmitters, such as a pendant carried by the resident.
  • Remote socket: a tail call lead, pear push, pressure mat or movement detector plugs into the 6.35mm jack.
  • Call follower sounder: in Night mode, with the call point in Presence, it sounds a soft tone so the member of staff in the room knows other calls are waiting.

Where to use it

It suits bedrooms and en-suite rooms in care homes, sheltered housing and similar settings, mounted indoors on a single gang back box. It is IP20 and works from -5ºC to +40ºC at up to 95% relative humidity.

What the figures mean in practice

  • Less than 3 mA quiescent, 14 mA in alarm: these currents add up across every device on the Quantec network, so use them when checking the controller's power capacity.
  • Up to 7 levels of call: levels such as Emergency, Attack and Attendance let staff see what kind of help is needed. Which levels a room can raise depends on the configuration and the devices added.

Installing it

  • Back box: use a standard 25mm single gang box; the back box sizes guide explains depths and when to go deeper.
  • Wiring: connect the Quantec network to Net + and Net -, and use R, G, L+, SW, IR and SLV for any dummy or extender devices in the room.
  • Programming: special functions are set with the QT423 configurator.

Planning your system

The job also needs a Quantec controller or network to power and address the call points, plus overdoor lights, ceiling pulls and displays as the building requires. The wider range of nurse call systems covers these parts.

For flush or surface fixing, the range of back boxes includes single gang sizes. Other C-TEC products cover fire, refuge and hearing loop systems.
