C-TEC NC802DEWP emergency pool alarm point, angled view

C-TEC IP67 Emergency Pool Alarm Point, Surface Mounting, 800 Series NC802DEWP

Overview

A pool alarm point gives someone at the poolside a way to call for help. This C-TEC unit brings that onto a nurse call system of the kind used in care settings, through a module.

It has no indicators of its own, and its call type is set by the wiring at the module.

How it works

  • Call latch module: the unit wires into the NC889ERM multi-purpose call latch module, and that wiring decides whether a press raises a Standard or an Emergency call.
  • Coloured leads: there are separate connections for the Emergency Call trigger, the Standard Call trigger and Manual Reset, and C-TEC's instructions give the details.

Where to use it

C-TEC designs it for use alongside swimming pools, with a max. relative humidity of 95% non-condensing.

A poolside call point does not replace lifeguard cover or a site's normal pool safety operating procedures. Agree positions and who responds with whoever runs the pool.

What the figures mean in practice

  • 78 D mm: this is a deep unit, so check it will not catch people where it projects from a wall.
  • 0mA at rest: it adds nothing to standby load, and the alarm current depends on the rest of the system.

Installing it

It is a surface mounting unit, with its own 35mm black back box. The branding stickers supplied let you label it.

IP67 depends on correct sealing, including cable entries, so follow the maker's instructions for those.

Planning your system

Allow one NC889ERM call latch module with this unit, because the pool alarm point connects through it.

The job also needs the rest of the call system, so see nurse call systems for the wider picture, including somewhere that staff can see the call.

This is a call system, not a fire alarm. For other parts from the same maker, see C-TEC products.
