Lyyt Battery Powered Lights

LYYT battery powered lights work where there is no mains supply. The page carries wireless LED motion sensor lights for sheds and garages, a twin LED motion sensor floodlight, outdoor string lights on a daily timer cycle, a COB push light, a pull cord light, a switch light and a portable lamp that runs on batteries or a USB lead. Check whether a light takes AA or AAA cells, as batteries are not supplied with these lights.

Choosing Lyyt Battery Powered Lights

Start with where the light will go, then check which batteries it takes.

Motion sensor lights

The 154.845UK and 154.846UK are compact wireless lights whose motion sensor covers 120° within 3m and switches on 9 SMD LEDs in the hours of darkness. The two lights have a 360° rotating head and a constant light setting, lift off their bracket for use as a torch and run on 3 AAA batteries. The 154.845UK and 154.846UK are for sheltered outdoor use only, in places such as sheds, garages, lofts and caravans.

For security lighting at homes and businesses, the 154.850UK floodlight has twin 3W COB LEDs on adjustable heads, adjustable light sensitivity and delay time, and takes 6 AA batteries.

String lights on a daily timer

The 155.611UK, 155.612UK and 155.613UK string lights have 8 programmed sequences and a weatherproof battery box, and they run a cycle of 6 hours on and 18 hours off for automatic daily operation. The three sets run on 3 AA batteries and suit indoor and outdoor use.

Push, pull and switch lights

Closed spaces suit the 410.311UK COB push light, which fixes with an adhesive pad and has an LED lifetime of up to 100,000 hours, for wardrobes, cupboards, under stairs and attic spaces. The 410.385UK hangs from an adjustable cord that you pull to turn it on and off, and the 410.395UK switch light fixes by its rear keyhole or a magnetised mounting.

Batteries and power

The 410.405UK portable lamp runs on 3 AA batteries or a USB lead, which is included, and has 12 bright white LEDs with an adjustable head and a hand-grip. The 410.311UK, 410.385UK and 410.395UK take 3 AAA batteries.

Frequently asked questions

What is portable LED lighting used for?

Portable LED lighting gives you light wherever it is needed, with no mains supply or fixed wiring. It is handy on desks and in sheds, lofts, tents and cupboards, and during power cuts. LEDs draw little power, so a set of cells can keep a small lamp going for a long time. The range here includes a portable lamp, a pull cord light and a switch light.

How do battery powered outdoor security lights work?

A battery powered security light uses a motion sensor to switch its LEDs on when someone moves nearby after dark, then turns them off after a set delay. With no cable to run, it can be fixed to a wall or fence with a simple bracket. Check the weather rating, the sensor angle and which batteries it takes. The range here includes a motion sensor floodlight with twin LED heads.

How do battery operated wall lights work?

Battery operated wall lights carry their own cells, so they fix to a wall with screws, adhesive or a magnet and need no wiring. You turn them on with a switch, a push, a pull cord or a motion sensor. Because nothing is wired in, they are easy to move later. The range here includes a switch light, a push light and motion sensor lights.

Can battery operated lights catch fire?

Yes, though it is rare, and the usual causes are damaged, mixed or wrongly fitted batteries rather than the LEDs themselves. Fit fresh cells of the same type, follow the polarity marks and keep the battery box dry. Take the batteries out of lights you store for a long spell, as old cells can leak. The range here includes LED lights that run on standard AA or AAA batteries.

How do you set the timer on battery operated LED lights?

On many battery LED string lights, the timer starts the moment you switch them on, so turn them on at the time of day you want them to light up. The set then runs for a fixed spell, switches off and repeats the cycle daily. Some sets have a separate timer button instead. The range here includes string lights on an automatic daily timer cycle.
