Lyyt Rope Lights

Lyyt rope lights are flexible 13mm diameter tubes of light, supplied on reels, for indoor and outdoor use. This page has 50m LED rope lights in red, warm white, cool white, blue and multicolour, and 45m rope lights with dimmable rice bulbs in red, clear, blue, green, yellow and orange, plus the power leads, controller, coupler, end cap, mounting clips and clear mounting strip used to install them.

Choosing Lyyt Rope Lights

Choose between LED rope and rice bulb rope first: they take different power leads and are cut at different intervals.

50m LED rope light

The LED rope lights, such as the 153.456UK in warm white and the 153.469UK in multicolour, are weather resistant to IP44 for indoor and outdoor use, and made from a flexible 13mm diameter plastic tube supplied on a plastic reel. They are not supplied with a power connection: use the 153.562UK static power lead or the 153.564UK 8-pattern controller. The tube can be cut only at the marked 2 metre intervals, and joints and cut ends should be made waterproof.

Rice bulb rope light

The 230V rope lights come on 45m reels, with dimmable rice bulbs at 27.7mm intervals in a flexible 13mm plastic rope rated IP44 for indoor and outdoor use. Colours are red (155.010UK), clear (155.015UK), blue (155.020UK), green (155.025UK), yellow (155.030UK) and orange (155.035UK). These rope lights need the 153.624UK power lead at one end and a terminator or coupler at the other, must be uncoiled before they are lit, and can be cut only at the marked 1 metre intervals.

Power leads and fittings

The 153.562UK power cable gives static light output and can power up to 100m of LED rope light. The 153.564UK controller powers up to 50m with 8 settings, including Combo, Steady On, Waves and Slow Fade, in an IP44 weatherproof housing. The 153.624UK is a 1.5m 230V power cable with a mains plug and a 2-pin connector for rice bulb rope light. The 153.553UK straight 3-pin coupler for Lyyt LED rope light comes with heat-shrink sleeving and pin connectors, and the 153.604UK end cap gives a water-tight seal with silicone glue and heat shrink sleeving. The 153.630UK mounting clips fix rope light to surfaces, and the 153.631UK clear plastic strip, in 2m lengths, mounts it in a straight line.

Where can a Lyyt rope light be cut?

At the cutting points marked on its side. The 50m LED rope lights such as the 153.457UK can be cut only at 2 metre intervals, and the 45m rice bulb rope lights such as the 155.020UK only at 1 metre intervals. LED rope joints and cut ends should be made waterproof, and the 153.604UK end cap seals an end with silicone glue and heat shrink sleeving.

Which power lead does my rope light need?

LED rope takes the 153.562UK static power lead or the 153.564UK controller. The 153.562UK can power up to 100m of LED rope light, and the 153.564UK up to 50m with 8 settings for chases and flash sequences. The 230V rice bulb rope lights such as the 155.015UK need the 153.624UK power lead, a 1.5m cable with a mains plug and 2-pin connector.

How many rope light reels can be joined together?

Two. The 50m LED rope lights such as the 153.460UK and the 45m 230V rope lights such as the 155.025UK each allow a maximum of 2 rolls to be connected together. For LED rope, the 153.553UK straight 3-pin coupler is designed for Lyyt LED rope light systems and comes with heat-shrink sleeving and pin connectors.

Can rope light be used outdoors?

Yes. Both rope light families here are weather resistant to IP44 for indoor and outdoor use, and the 153.564UK controller has an IP44 weatherproof housing. LED rope joints and cut ends should be made waterproof, and the 153.604UK end cap gives a water-tight seal with silicone glue and heat shrink sleeving.

Can the rice bulb rope lights be dimmed?

Yes. The rice bulb rope lights such as the 155.035UK have dimmable rice bulbs, set at 27.7mm intervals in a flexible 13mm diameter plastic rope on a 45m reel. They must be uncoiled before they are lit, and need the 153.624UK power lead at one end and a terminator or coupler at the other.
