This page holds 100mm (4 inch) Knightsbridge extractor fans for bathrooms, utility rooms, toilets and kitchens, with the gravity shutters and fly-screen grilles that finish the wall outlet. Timer fans

The EX001T is a 100mm fan for wall and ceiling fitting in kitchens, bathrooms and toilets, extracting 74 cubic metres per hour at 35dBA at 3m, with an over-run timer that sets from 2 to 30 minutes. The IP45 EX1TWH and EX1TBK are Zone 1 rated and extract 24 l/s (87m³/hr); the EX1TBK runs at 28.5 dBA at 3m and has a built-in back draft kit, and the EX1TWH runs at 28.5-30dBA and draws 9.7W on 230V 50Hz.

Humidistat and LED backlit fans

The EX1THWH adds an integrated humidistat for moisture control to an IP45 fan at 28.5dBA, with an overrun timer adjustable between 1 and 30 minutes and preset at 1 minute. The LED backlit fans give a lighting effect while they run: the EX3TWH in matt white and the EX5TMB in matt black have overrun timers of 2 to 30 minutes, and the EX4TSS has a stainless steel finish, extracts 23 l/s (83m³/hr) and draws 10.1W on 230V 50Hz.

Shutters and grilles

The EX007W and EX007B gravity shutters fit 4 inch/100mm fans with round rigid or flexible ducting, prevent backdraught air and rain penetration, and stop vermin getting in when the ventilation is not running. The EX009W and EX009B grilles have a louvered vent with an integral fly screen behind a removable front grille, for internal or external walls.

Can an IP45 extractor fan go in bathroom Zone 1?

Yes, where the maker rates the IP45 fan for Zone 1; BS 7671 sets a minimum water-protection rating for equipment in bathroom zones 1 and 2, which IP45 meets. The EX1TWH, EX1TBK, EX4TSS and EX5TMB are IP45 fans suitable for Zone 1. The EX1THWH and EX3TWH are also IP45, while the EX001T timer fan is rated IPX2.

How long can an extractor fan overrun timer run?

It depends on the fan, because the overrun time is adjustable, for example from 1 or 2 minutes up to 30 minutes. The EX001T, EX1TWH, EX1TBK, EX3TWH, EX4TSS and EX5TMB timers adjust between 2 and 30 minutes, and the EX1TBK comes preset at 2 minutes. The EX1THWH timer adjusts between 1 and 30 minutes, is preset at 1 minute and adds a humidistat.

What does a gravity shutter stop?

A gravity shutter stops backdraught air and rain coming in through the fan outlet, and keeps vermin out when the ventilation is not running. The Knightsbridge EX007W (white) and EX007B (black) shutters fit 4 inch/100mm fans, work with round rigid or flexible ducting and are made from polycarbonate.

How loud is a quiet extractor fan?

A quiet 100mm extractor fan can run at about 28.5 dBA at 3m, and a lower dBA figure means a quieter fan. The EX1TBK, EX4TSS and EX5TMB run at 28.5 dBA at 3m, and the EX1TWH at 28.5-30dBA at 3m. The EX001T timer fan is rated at 35dBA at 3m and extracts 74 cubic metres per hour.
