Choosing Neutrik Products
Neutrik connectors join audio, speaker and mains power cables, and include XLR, Speakon and Powercon connectors, 6.3mm jack plugs, RCA phono plugs and couplers.
Jack and phono plugs
The NP2X (750.735UK) is a 6.3mm mono jack plug, the NP2XN a 6.3mm all-metal mono jack plug with a black finish, and the NP3X (751.254UK) a 6.3mm all metal stereo plug for instruments and audio equipment. The NYS373-2/-9 professional RCA phono plugs have a red ID band, as on the 993.095UK, or a white one, for easy identification.
XLR connectors
The NC3FXX (762.122UK) and NC3MXX are 3-pole XLR line connectors in the standard metal version, with strain relief and a flexible rubber cable protector for cables up to 8mm in diameter. For equipment panels, the NC3FD-LX (761.660UK) is a 3-pin XLR panel socket and the NC3MD-LX a 3-pin chassis plug, each with a two-screw mount and solder terminals.
speakON connectors
The NL4FXX (763.481UK, 763.482UK) and NL2FXX (763.483UK) speakON cable connectors have a twist lock system and a current rating up to 37 A rms. The 763.481UK NL4FXX is a 4 pole connector with screw terminals and chuck type strain relief for cable diameters of 6 to 12 mm and 10-16mm. The NL2FXX is the 2 pole connector, compatible with both 2-pole and 4-pole chassis connectors. The NL4MPXX (763.454UK) is a 4-pole square chassis socket with a 25 x 30mm flange and solder terminals, and the NL4MMX a 4 pole lockable back to back in-line coupler.
powerCON mains connectors
The NAC3FXX powerCON connectors (763.485UK, 763.486UK, 763.487UK and 763.488UK) are single phase (3 conductor) lockable AC mains cable connectors with circuit breaking capability when mated with powerCON XX Series receptacles. They replace appliance couplers where a rugged locking connection is needed, and are keyed and colour coded for power-out, with screw terminal assembly.

Frequently asked questions
Should I use speakON connectors for loudspeakers?
Yes. speakON connectors are the industry standard for loudspeaker connections, and the NL4FXX (763.481UK) has a proven twist lock system and solid contacts with screw-type terminals. The 763.481UK is rated up to 37 A rms, and the NL2FXX 2 pole version suits audio, theatre and live music events.
Will a 2 pole speakON plug fit a 4-pole chassis connector?
Yes. The NL2FXX (763.483UK) 2 pole speakON cable connector is compatible with both 2-pole and 4-pole chassis connectors. The NL2FXX has a robust screw terminal assembly, chuck type strain relief for cable diameters of 6 to 12 mm, a twist lock system and a current rating up to 37 A rms.
What is a powerCON connector used for?
It is a locking AC mains connector. The NAC3FXX powerCON is a single phase (3 conductor) lockable power connector that replaces appliance couplers wherever a rugged solution with a locking device is needed for a safe power connection, with circuit breaking capability when mated with powerCON XX Series receptacles.
What cable sizes do the speakON cable connectors take?
The NL2FXX (763.483UK) takes cable diameters of 6 to 12 mm, and the 763.481UK NL4FXX has chuck type strain relief for 6 to 12 mm and 10-16mm cable. The 763.482UK NL4FXX takes a 10-16mm cable diameter. The NC3FXX XLR line connector, by contrast, takes cables up to 8mm in diameter.
What is the coloured band on the NYS373 phono plugs for?
Easy identification. The Neutrik NYS373-2/-9 professional RCA phono plugs come in a red ID band version, the 993.095UK, and a white ID band version, so connections can be told apart at a glance. They are designed for reliable, high-quality connections in professional audio applications.
