GJD Motion Detectors

This page gathers GJD motion detectors for perimeter protection, CCTV triggering and security lighting control. The range includes wired D-TECT PIR and triple-tech detectors, D-TECT IP models powered over Ethernet, wireless D-TECT X, D-TECT R Ricochet and D-TECT LX detectors, Pearl curtain detectors, Elite and Opal external PIRs, and D-TECT Laser curtain and long-range laser detectors. Choose by how the detector reports an alarm, then by its sensing technology and reach.

Choosing GJD Motion Detectors

Settle how the detector will signal, then the sensing technology and the zone it has to watch.

Wired to a panel, camera or lighting controller

The GJD300 D-TECT 2 is a quad-element PIR with detection programmable to 30 m, 2 volt-free contacts, 2 negative switched outputs and front and rear tamper. For longer, narrower beams the GJD320 D-TECT 60 is programmable to 40 m or 60 m, with coverage up to 60 m × 6 m in an IP65 zinc-alloy housing. The Elite GJD022 has a 36-zone Fresnel lens, two volt-free relays and a programmable range of 10 to 35 m.

IP detectors on the network

D-TECT IP detectors connect over IP to video management and camera systems. The GJD230 has a programmable 30m beam range and supports 802.3af PoE, the GJD250 runs on Power over Ethernet with a beam of up to 50 metres, and the GJD260 D-TECT 3 IP combines PIR and microwave detection with a web browser interface.

Wireless detectors

The D-TECT X GJD430 takes 2 x 3 volt CR123 batteries and has a 500m RF transmission range on 868MHz. The GJD850R joins a Texecom Ricochet mesh and pairs with Premier Elite control panels on firmware V2.08 and above. The GJD1230 D-TECT LX is part of the LX LoRa Connect system, with a wireless transmission range up to 10km.

Curtains and lasers

The Pearl GJD142/W uses a narrow PIR curtain lens with up to 12m selectable range alongside microwave sensing. The GJD509 D-TECT Laser uses time-of-flight scanning to build curtain-style zones up to 10 m × 10 m, and the single ended GJD515 covers up to 500m with 20 configurable zones that can trigger events over IP.

Frequently asked questions

What are GJD sensors used for?

GJD sensors are security detectors, many built for outdoor use, that spot people or vehicles around a site and trigger an alarm or CCTV recording. Designs include passive infrared, dual-technology and laser curtain detectors. For exposed outdoor positions, look for a weather rating such as IP65. The range here includes PIR, dual-tech and laser perimeter detectors.

What types of GJD detector are there?

GJD detectors include external PIRs, dual and triple-technology detectors that add microwave sensing, and laser detectors that build virtual curtains. Some connect over the network with PoE, some are battery-powered wireless units, and others are wired to a panel or lighting controller. Curtain detectors guard a narrow line such as a wall or fence, while long-range PIRs cover open ground.

How do GJD PIR detectors work?

GJD PIR detectors work by sensing the infrared heat of a person moving across their detection zones. Many use quad-element or dual sensors that must agree before an alarm, which helps cut false alarms from small animals and weather. The detection range can often be programmed so the beam stops short of a boundary, reducing activations from a public path or road.

What is a GJD external PIR?

A GJD external PIR is an outdoor passive infrared detector made by the UK company GJD to sense people moving around a building, driveway or perimeter. Units sit in weatherproof housings on a wall or pole and can switch security lighting, trigger CCTV or signal an alarm panel. For remotely monitored CCTV, look for models that comply with BS 8418.
