Disabled Refuge & Toilet Alarms
A disabled toilet alarm is a legal requirement in an accessible WC, and it is only useful if someone outside hears it. These systems pair a ceiling pull cord with an over-door light and buzzer, so an alarm is seen and heard at the door rather than inside a locked cubicle. Refuge points use the same principle at a stairwell.
The range is led by the Beacon UDTA assistance alarm kit with the C-Tec NC951 accessible toilet alarm kit alongside, for Building Regulations Document M compliance in commercial, public and care settings. It covers complete single-zone kits, the ECU-8 eight-zone controller, replacement pull cords, reset buttons, light and buzzer modules and the ancillaries a refurbishment needs, so staff can acknowledge and reset a call and a failed cord can be replaced without changing the system. Voltage, zone count and mounting are stated per product.
Refuge and toilet alarms are usually specified with the rest of a building's life-safety and entry provision. See Fire Safety Equipment for detection and Smart Access Control where the same doors are controlled.
