Choosing Door Stations & Monitors
Match the door station and the monitor to the same maker and system first, then pick features for the entrance and for the rooms inside.
Door stations
A one-piece station suits a single entrance: the Dahua VTO6521K-S2 is a 2MP IP apartment door station with a 4.3" LCD, rated IP65, that unlocks by password, IC card, QR code or app. Modular stations are built up from parts: the Hikvision DS-KD8003-IME1(B) is a fisheye camera module that needs a mounting bracket and runs from 12 VDC or PoE, and Videx 4000 Series expansion modules such as the 4042/M add call buttons with backlit name plates.
Digital panels for larger sites
A digital panel replaces rows of buttons with a keypad. The Videx 4212V/SA combines an alphanumeric keypad, a day/night wide-angle camera and integrated proximity access control in 12 gauge 304 stainless steel. The Axis 02026-001 is a 6MP network door station with an RFID reader and keypad for access control systems.
Monitors and indoor stations
Screen sizes include 4.3" units such as the Comelit PAC 6742WK and 7" touchscreens such as the Dahua DHI-VTH5422HB, which also takes PoE. Wi-Fi monitors pass calls to a phone: the Fermax 9469 VEO-XL works with the DuoxMe app, and the Comelit PAC TP6842BM connects to Comelit Cloud over Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Handset monitors suit users who prefer to lift a receiver.
Master, guard and emergency stations
A master or guard station calls and answers other stations from a desk. The Aiphone IXG-MK is a 7" touchscreen IP video guard station with handset, hands-free or push-to-talk speech, and the Comelit PAC 6802B is a 7" touch master station with full-duplex hands-free audio. For public areas, the Aiphone IX-SSA-RA is a stainless IP65 audio emergency station with Braille signage.

Frequently asked questions
What screen size should a door entry monitor have?
Pick 4.3" for a compact monitor and 7" for a larger picture with touch controls. The Comelit PAC 6742WK has a 4.3" screen at 480 x 272 pixels, while the Hikvision DS-KH7300EY-WTE2 and the Paxton 337-290 have 7" capacitive touchscreens, the Hikvision at 1024 x 600. A larger screen also leaves room for on-screen menus and touch buttons.
What is a hands-free door entry monitor?
A hands-free monitor has its speaker and microphone built in, so a call is answered with one button and no handset is lifted. The Comelit PAC 6802B and 6601W/BM use full-duplex hands-free audio, so both people can speak at once. The Videx 6788/MV is a full-duplex hands-free 7" videophone whose picture memory stores up to 100 pictures.
Can I use a monitor from one maker with another maker’s door station?
Usually not, because the monitor and the door station must share the same system and bus. The Videx 6788 is made for the VX2300 2-wire system and Videx videokits, the Hikvision DS-KH7300EY-WTE2 runs on Hikvision 2-Wire HD through a compatible distributor, and the Comelit PAC 6742WK is a monitor for the ViP system. Read the system name on the existing units before choosing.
Can I add more call buttons to a door station?
Yes, a modular panel takes extra button modules to give more call buttons. Videx expansion modules such as the 4042/M come with 2, 3, 4 or 5 buttons, and double modules with up to 10, where 2 buttons share one name plate window. For flats that need more than a panel of buttons, a digital keypad panel such as the Videx 4212V/SA calls each flat by number.
Which door entry monitors work with hearing aids?
Monitors with an induction loop or T-coil output pass speech straight to a hearing aid set to its loop position. The Comelit PAC TP6842BM, a 7" touchscreen, has an induction loop, the Comelit PAC 6601W/BM has magnetic induction for hearing aid wearers, and the Aiphone IXG-2C7-L video tenant station has T-coil hearing aid compatibility.
How is an IP door station powered?
An IP door station usually takes power over the network cable by PoE, and many also accept a separate 12 VDC supply. The Hikvision DS-KD8003-IME1(B) camera module runs from 12 VDC or standard PoE, the Paxton Entry range carries power and data on one Cat5 cable, and the Aiphone IX-SSA-RA emergency station takes PoE and passes it through to another device.
