Frequently asked questions

What is an IP box camera?

The Axis 02483-001 (AXIS M1135 Mk II) shows what a box camera is: a compact camera with a clearly visible, fixed angle of view, so it is easy to see exactly where the camera is pointing and it can act as a deterrent. A box camera can also be a body for a separate housing: the Axis 02839-001 block camera is designed to fit into most enclosures, so you can use your existing housing or upgrade to a new one.

Do these box cameras come with a lens?

Some do and some do not. The Axis 02901-001 is a barebone unit without lens and mounting, and the Bosch F.01U.314.806 takes a separate lens. The Axis 02733-001 and 02735-001 offer an exchangeable lens, the Axis 03392-001 has a wide 4.7-10 mm lens with a 101.08°-44° horizontal field of view, and the i-PRO WV-U11501-V3 has a 3.2-10.2mm lens with 3.2x optical zoom.

Which of these box cameras are NDAA compliant?

The i-PRO WV-S1136AV, WV-U11301-F3, WV-U11301-V3, WV-U11301-V3V, WV-U11350-V3, WV-U11501-V3 and WV-U11501-V3V are NDAA compliant. The WV-U11301-F3, WV-U11301-V3, WV-U11350-V3 and WV-U11501-V3 each have a built-in FIPS 140-3 Level 3 Certified SecureElement, and the WV-S1136AV has a built-in FIPS 140-2 Level 3 Compliant SecureElement.

Which camera here suits high-temperature areas?

The Hikvision DS-2XT6445G2-L/C08(2.8MM) and DS-2XT6445G2-L/C08(4MM). They are for high temperature scenarios below 85°C, such as tobacco baking houses, farms, food processing places and high temperature test chambers. The DS-2XT6445G2-L/C08(2.8MM) and DS-2XT6445G2-L/C08(4MM) use semiconductor cooling for 24/7 working, are rated IP67 and can access up to 8-channel temperature and humidity sensors with an RS-485 interface.

Can a box camera run AI analytics on the camera itself?

Yes. Examples here include the Hanwha PNB-A9082, which has a Dual NPU architecture for AI-based image enhancement and analytics, and the Axis 02164-001, which supports applications based on deep learning on the edge, with AXIS Object Analytics for object classification. The i-PRO WV-S1136AV runs up to 2 Edge AI analytic apps, and the Hanwha XNZ-6320A uses AI to detect and classify people, vehicles, faces and license plates.
