Lyyt LED Tapes

This page collects LYYT LED tape and the parts that go with it. The tape comes as boxed DIY kits, as 5m reels, as 30m reels to cut to length and as professional packages. Types include single colour whites, RGB, RGBW, UV, high output and seamless COB tape, at 12V or 24V. Controllers, amplifiers, snap-fit connectors, flexible links, aluminium profiles and fixing clips complete a run.

Choosing Lyyt LED Tapes

Settle the tape type, its voltage and its IP rating, then add what the run needs to connect and control it.

Kit, reel or package

A DIY kit is the simplest start. The 153.722UK is a 5m warm white (3000K) kit rated IP65 that runs at 12Vdc, can be cut every 5cm and includes a UK power adaptor, and the 153.739UK gives warm and cool white on one reel with an IR controller. Reels such as the 156.720UK RGB tape need their own supply and controller. The 300.901UK package pairs 10m of 12V white tape with a single power supply sized for the full length.

Seamless and bendable tape

COB tape gives a continuous line instead of separate dots: the 153.806UK kit carries 480 COB LEDs per metre on 24Vdc, and the 156.676UK is an IP65 seamless COB tape with 528 LEDs/m. The 156.742UK is a 30m IP66 tape 4mm wide and 8mm tall with a frosted surface, made to bend more easily, with a recommended run of 10m per power supply.

Colour and output

The 156.772UK adds a white channel to RGB on 24Vdc, and the 156.704UK gives ultraviolet light for glow parties and themed displays. For cabinets, architectural detail and signage, the 156.786UK high output tape has 120 LEDs per metre and an IP20 rating for indoor use.

Control and connection

The 153.741UK RGB controller has a 24 key IR remote with 16 static colours, and the 153.795UK is an in-line single colour controller with 3 button dimming. The 153.771UK repeater amplifier extends RGB tape on 5-24Vdc, and snap-fit connectors such as the 156.139UK X type join single colour DIY kit tape.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate power supply for LYYT LED tape?

Not with the 153.722UK and 153.739UK DIY kits, but the 156.704UK reel needs one. Those kits come with a UK adaptor power supply, while a reel such as the 156.704UK UV tape needs a 12Vdc supply of at least 3.5A that is not included. The 300.901UK professional package pairs its tape with a single power supply.

Can LYYT LED tape be cut to length?

Yes, the tapes state where they can be cut. The 153.722UK kit can be cut every 5cm and the 153.806UK COB kit at 5cm intervals, while the 153.739UK dual colour kit cuts at 10cm intervals. The 30m reels such as the 156.742UK are cut to the length a project needs and sealed with end caps.

Which LYYT LED tape can go in a kitchen or bathroom?

Choose an IP65 or higher tape rather than an IP20 one. The 153.722UK kit is rated IP65 for kitchens, bathrooms and vehicles, and the 153.693UK is an IP68 RGB tape rated for full submersion. IP20 tapes such as the 153.806UK COB kit and the 156.786UK high output reel are for indoor use.

How is COB LED tape different from dotted LED tape?

COB tape gives a continuous line of light rather than a row of separate dots. The 156.676UK gives a seamless no spot line from 528 LEDs/m, and the 153.806UK kit carries 480 COB LEDs per metre on 24Vdc. The 156.676UK is intended for restaurants, bars, retail and display lighting.

How do I control colour-changing LYYT tape?

Connect it to an RGB controller, which the reels do not include. The 153.741UK controller has a 24 key IR remote with 16 static colours and 4 colour changing modes, working up to 10m in line of sight. The 156.720UK RGB reel can be extended beyond 5m with an RGB amplifier and splitter such as the 153.771UK and 153.900UK.
