Coaxial & Satellite Leads

Coaxial and satellite leads carry aerial and satellite signals to TVs and set-top boxes. The AV:Link range here covers standard coax plug to plug leads, right-angle leads for wall-mounted TVs, a plug to socket extension, RG6 leads with a foil screen and braid, F-type satellite leads and kits, twin RG6 kits for moving a Sky or Freesat box, and a coax to RCA lead for vintage games consoles.

Choosing Coaxial & Satellite Leads

Pick the connector type first, coax or F-type, then the cable construction and the length.

Standard coax leads

Standard leads such as the 112.002UK have 75Ω impedance, a 0.5mm core and 4.5mm cable, supplied in a sealed bag for domestic aerial and satellite signal distribution. Other lengths include the 112.000UK at 2.0m, the 112.004UK at 4.0m and the 112.006UK at 10m. Right-angle plugs help with cable management behind wall-mounted TVs: the 112.005UK is 0.5m, the 112.007UK 1m and the 112.008UK 2.0m. To lengthen an existing lead, the 112.012UK is a 2.0m plug to socket extension.

RG6 leads

RG6 leads such as the 112.148UK and 112.154UK use a solid copper clad steel conductor, a foamed polyethylene dielectric, an aluminium foil screen and a copper clad steel braid, which reduce noise reaching the conductor and suit digital, satellite and cable TV signals. The 112.148UK is 2.0m and the 112.154UK 10.0m, with nickel plated coax plugs, and the 112.158UK is the F-type version at 2.0m with nickel plated F-type plugs.

F-type and satellite leads

F-type plug to plug leads such as the 112.030UK, 112.032UK and 112.034UK run at 2.0m, 4.0m and 10m. The 112.028UK has an F-type plug at one end and a coax plug at the other, and the 112.022UK kit pairs a 5.0m F-type plug to plug lead with an F-type coupler. The twin RG6 kits, the 112.021UK at 1m and the 112.023UK at 3m, are for installing or relocating a Sky or Freesat box, with twin satellite cable, pre-connected F-type connectors and two F-type in-line couplers to join existing cables.

Coax to RCA

The 112.166UK is a 2m black coax plug to RCA plug lead for connecting vintage games consoles to a display.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an RG6 lead and a standard coax lead?

An RG6 lead is built with a foil screen and a braid to keep noise out. The 112.148UK has a solid copper clad steel conductor, foamed PE dielectric, an aluminium foil screen and a copper clad steel braid, suiting digital, satellite and cable TV signals. A standard lead such as the 112.002UK is a 75Ω lead with a 0.5mm core for domestic aerial and satellite distribution.

What is an F-type lead used for?

An F-type lead connects satellite equipment that uses F-type connectors. The 112.030UK, 112.032UK and 112.034UK are F-type plug to plug leads at 2.0m, 4.0m and 10m, and the 112.028UK has an F plug at one end and a coax plug at the other for aerial or satellite distribution, compatible with most modern AV equipment.

How do I move a Sky or Freesat box to another room?

Use a twin RG6 satellite extension kit. The 112.021UK (1m) and 112.023UK (3m) have twin satellite cable with pre-connected F-type connectors, plus two F-type in-line couplers to join the kit to your existing cables, so you can install or relocate the box.

When should I use a right-angle coax lead?

Use one where the TV sits close to the wall, as on a wall mount, because the right-angle plugs help with cable management. The 112.005UK (0.5m), 112.007UK (1m) and 112.008UK (2.0m) are 75 Ohm plug to plug leads with right-angle plugs, and the 112.005UK has a 0.5mm core and 4.5mm cable diameter.

How can I extend an existing coax lead?

Fit a plug to socket extension such as the 112.012UK, a 2.0m 75Ω lead with 4.5mm cable whose socket end takes the plug of the existing lead. For F-type runs, the 112.022UK kit with a 5.0m F-type plug to plug lead includes an F-type coupler, which joins F-type leads end to end.
