Pull Cord Switches

A pull cord switch is operated from a hanging cord rather than a wall plate, which makes it the usual choice where a wall switch cannot be sited — most often a bathroom or shower room. Where accessibility is being met, Part M guidance puts a lighting pull cord between 900mm and 1100mm above the floor, with a contrasting bangle on the cord; two models here are built to it.

The range is Knightsbridge throughout. Ten 10AX 2-way models switch lighting circuits, wired as a single position or as a second switching point, in white and in eight finishes: antique brass, anthracite, black nickel, brushed chrome, matt black, matt white, polished chrome and smoked bronze. A 1-way model completes them. Eight carry a 1.5 metre cord and three carry 1.7 metres; two do not state a length, and two are supplied in packs of five. Alongside them sit two heavier double-pole models, a 45A and a 50A with neon indicators, for isolating an appliance circuit, the 45A for an electric shower. Eleven are certified to EN 60669-1, and the two Part M models state compliance with all relevant British safety standards.
